The tradition of Drama in Carrigallen goes back to the late 1800’s. The present group was founded in 1963 as The Community Players and there has been no break in activity since that time. The group has competed on the festival circuit since 1970 and has reached the All-Ireland Open Drama Finals in Athlone on twenty-three occasions. In 1989 the group opened their own theatre - The Corn Mill Theatre

and Arts Centre. In that year the name of the group was changed to the Corn Mill Theatre Group. In 1999 major renovations took place when the foyer, new dressing rooms, rehearsal and storage areas were built. In 2004 we hosted the All-Ireland One Act Finals, and have continued to host an annual One-Act Festival. The group has won the All-Ireland Open Drama Finals in Athlone on three occasions - in 1998 with Belfry by Billy Roche, in 2005 with Stolen Child by Yvonne Quinn and Bairbre Ni Chaoimh and in 2014 with The Devil's Ceili by Philip Doherty & Kevin McGahern. The group have also won the Abbey Theatre Award on two occasions; in 2014 with The Devil's Ceili by Philip Doherty & Kevin McGahern and again in 2019 with On Broken Wings by Dermot Healy.

Corn Mill Theatre are proud to present The Metamorphosis on Friday 29th May at 8pm. Directed by Oisín Hourican, the cast features actors Connor Sheridan (Moyne), Michele Ciba, Paddy Sheanon, Taragh Donohoe, Connor Sheridan (Bailieborough), Sinead Conefrey & Sarah McGearty.

Synopsis
"As Gregor Samsa Awoke one morning from uneasy dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic Insect..." A gripping look at family loyalty, secret resentments, and what happens when a loved one becomes a burden. A fast-paced, stylish drama that asks the ultimate question: Would you still love me if I was a gigantic dungbeetle?

- Rodger Carmody: 30-50yrs
- Grey Man: 40-70yrs
- Hag's Son : 25yrs-45yrs (young, energetic)
- Timmeen: 25yrs-45yrs (male, young, small stature)
- Keerby: 25yrs-45yrs (Male)
- Hag: 45-65yrs (Female)
- Doll: 18-30yrs (Female, Slim stature)
