Thanks to Ray Gannon for many years he has been involved in carnival but also allowing us to use his premises to store equipment, signs and loads of carnival related things🥳🎉

As for me, I joined the committee in 2015 after Tom Glancy asked me to come along to a meeting—and the rest is history.

I fell in love with Carnival. 🎉🎉

I have so much to thank Carnival for personally. The friendships and connections I’ve made over the years, along with the incredible support from local businesses and our community, have been like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. ❤️❤️

I would be absolutely heartbroken to see it come to an end. 💔

I want to make a heartfelt appeal to our community: please don’t let this amazing event disappear. Carnival is something truly special. It brings people together, creates lasting memories, and means so much to so many. But the reality is that we can’t keep it going without new people, fresh ideas, and more hands to help.

Please don’t be the person who regrets it next year when there’s no Carnival. If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, now is the time.

Kenny Murtagh one of the original committee members, who played a key role in re-establishing the Carnival in 2013 for the Carrick 400 celebrations after many years’ absence. He has remained committed even after covid, recognising the Carnival’s importance to the community. His dedication has helped create events that brings together people of all ages and attracts families from near and far to celebrate and enjoy our town.

After celebrating the Magic of Carrick-on-Shannon Carnival Since 2013 the current long standing committee is stepping down.

In the heart of Leitrim, Carrick-on-Shannon proudly marks 12 spectacular carnivals. Since its inception, the carnival has been a beacon of joy, a hub of community spirit, and a celebration of culture, bringing together residents and visitors of all ages from across the region.

After many years of dedication and hard work, the current carnival committee has made the bittersweet decision to step down at the end of this month. Their tireless efforts since 2013 have shaped the carnival into the cherished institution it is today. Now, as we look to the future, we are calling on the community to step up and carry the torch forward.

The long-standing present committee invites all interested individuals or groups—whether long- or short-time residents, local businesses, young or older community leaders—to join in and help shape the next chapter of the carnival. Without fresh ideas and new faces on the committee, this treasured tradition risks fading. The outgoing committee will eagerly meet with new members and hand over all the information and contacts vital to the running of the event.

The Carnival would not be possible without the massive on going support shown by local businesses in town, most of which have supported this event from day one, allowing the carnival to keep family-friendly, with free events for the duration.
