The deadline is approaching for our Intergenerational Creative Project Open Call.

Creative Ireland Carlow, supported by Carlow Arts Office, is seeking an artist or creative practitioner to develop a project that brings young people and older people together through a shared creative process.

We’re looking for imaginative ideas from across all artforms that create meaningful connections, conversations and memorable shared experiences between generations.

Photographer in Residence 2026–2027 | Open Call

Creative Ireland, supported by Carlow Arts Office and in collaboration with Carlow County Library, is inviting applications for a Photographer in Residence for 2026–2027.

Over the course of a year, the residency will document the people, places, communities and everyday stories that make County Carlow what it is – from local traditions and community events to rural and urban landscapes and the people who call Carlow home.

Community engagement is at the heart of the residency, with opportunities to work with communities, schools, libraries and local groups through photography workshops, photo walks, talks and creative projects.

💶 Funding: €8,000 for the 12-month residency
📍 Location: County Carlow
📅 Closing date: 1pm, Friday 11 September 2026

The residency is open to photographers interested in creating an honest, engaging and lasting visual record of Carlow and its communities.

Intergenerational Creative Project – Open Call

Creative Ireland Carlow, supported by Carlow Arts Office, is inviting artists and creative practitioners to develop and deliver an exciting new intergenerational creative project bringing young people and older people together through the arts.

We’re looking for imaginative, inclusive projects that create genuine opportunities for both generations to work together, share stories and skills, learn from each other and create something together.

All artforms and creative disciplines are welcome.

Projects should include a meaningful coming together of both groups, with a shared event, exhibition, performance, presentation or celebration at the end of the project.

There were smiles, songs and plenty of great memories shared during the first round of our Live Music in Residential Healthcare Settings concerts this summer ❤️🎶

It was lovely to experience some special moments from our visit to St Fiacc's, where the music even inspired one audience member to get up and sing!

We're delighted that the second round of visits is now underway, bringing more music and connection and to Residential Healthcare Settings across County Carlow over the coming weeks.

This year's initiative, "Round the House and Mind the Dresser," sees Creative Ireland Carlow and Carlow Arts Office collaborate with Maksym Lozovyi, Alison Behan and Mad for Trad Carlow to deliver 17 live performances across eight Residential Healthcare Settings, helping ensure people of all ages can continue to experience the benefits of creativity and positive ageing.

After three months of creativity, learning and collaboration, the Tullow Art Group is delighted to present Love, Life and Time, an exhibition of plaster cast works created with Artist in Residence Philip Cullen, now on display in Tullow Library.

Over the course of the programme, each participant mixed their own plaster, designed and carefully planned their individual piece. From shells, hands, watches and skulls to many other personal objects and symbols, the 18 works reflect the unique stories, memories and creativity of each artist.

Hung in Tullow Library on 16 July, Love, Life and Time is a wonderful celebration of personal expression and the artistic journey the group has shared together.

A huge thank you to Philip Cullen for his inspiring guidance throughout the programme, Tullow Library for providing such a welcoming exhibition space, and Tullow Men's Shed for generously hosting the group over the past three months.

This project is funded by Creative Ireland Carlow and supported by Carlow Arts Office.
