This year’s Half Poem is a full poem
We want you to write a complete poem, your own headline (if you have one), your own everything.
The one and only condition we ask you to observe:
Include a train !
Carlow in its daily routine: Surely you will notice trains, use them even, or just cross rail-tracks driving your car, on a daily basis; unless they made their way that far into the fringe of your subconscious, that you don’t register them anymore. Either way: Write your poem, trains at its centre, or just the single mention of anything train. It’s all yours.
Please print it out on A4 (don’t exceed a single page),
no smaller type than 12p
Get going. Do miss the boat. Take the train.
Alternatively, if you need some inspiration use this
as the beginning of your half a poem.
Train to where, I wonder.
