We you to join us tomorrow Saturday 5th, for a special evening of music in a beautiful café-style setting, featuring four renowned international musicians: Christine Tobin and her new band, The Unforeseen, with Karen Street, Phil Robson on guitar, and Dave Whitford.

The Unforeseen is Irish, BBC Award-winning, singer-songwriter, Christine Tobin's new band. This group of internationally renowned musicians play an exciting and diverse repertoire that ranges from their own original tunes to adaptations of Tango legend Astor Piazzolla; classic Irish trad ballads such as Cuirt Bhaile Nua; Baroque composer Henry Purcell; Brazilian maestro Milton Nascimento; Duke Ellington, L Cohen, Tom Waits and more.

We are delighted to have Rosie (Briarhide Illustration) back, this time for a six-week course on an introduction to drawing animals.

This course will demonstrate some of the basic skills for sketching animal subjects, including anatomy, movement and characteristics. Guided by local artist Rosie Harel-Dore, learners will discover how complex animal forms can be broken down into simple shapes for ease of drawing, so that even the most inexperienced artist may achieve satisfying results. From familiar pets to insects, birds and aquatic life, this is the perfect course for anyone wishing to experience the joy of capturing the living world around them on paper.

• Day & Time: Saturdays from 3pm until 5pm
• Dates: September 19th & 26th, October 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th
• Cost: €60 (+booking fee) for 6 weeks per person

Our Cine Club is back next Thursday, 10th Septmeber. Screening at 7.30pm.

We are delighted to screen Jim Jarmusch’s anthology film first, which won the top prize at the Venice Film Festival. It captures three very different family reunions. In the US, a brother and sister visit their reclusive father. In Dublin, two sisters receive their occasional invite to lunch with their famous mother. And in Paris, two siblings reunite following the sudden death of their parents.

Explore the works by Val McLoughlin & Oisín Tozer in Ballina Arts Centre.

Val’s Quarters refers to the fact that most of the studies for these paintings were created on the banks of the Moy throughout the four seasons.

In the Pale Light of a Shadow by Oisín is an installation that explores how we perceive and relate to the world, particularly nature.

Ballina Arts Centre galleries are open Tue to Sat from 10am until 6pm. Admission Free.
