Athy Choral Fusion was co-founded in 2015 by Athy native Eileen Doyle and the late Rev. Philip Knowles (Philip RIP). Originally known as In Cantorum, the choir began with a focus on sacred music. Over time, its repertoire expanded to include a diverse range of secular works, inspiring a new name that reflects this rich and evolving musical identity.
Under the direction of conductor Eileen Doyle and accompanied by the accomplished Aidan Farrell, the choir continues to flourish. Athy Choral Fusion is a four-part harmony ensemble—soprano, alto, tenor, and bass—bringing together experienced singers who share not only a love of music, but also a strong sense of camaraderie. Rehearsals are filled with fun, friendship, and a genuine feeling of wellbeing, qualities that shine through in every performance.
Over the past decade, the choir has performed extensively at both local and national level. Highlights include singing for visitors at the Rock of Cashel, performances in Christ Church Cathedral, live broadcasts on RTÉ for Sunday Morning Worship, participation in the Sligo Choral Festival, and contributions to INTO retirement celebrations for teachers, alongside many other religious and secular events.
