🤩Meet Laura Kelly

Laura Kelly is Chairperson, coach and Race Director with Athlone Triathlon Club and a Women in Sport Advocate with Triathlon Ireland — roles she is deeply proud of and hugely invested in.

A positive, encouraging and people-focused person, Laura thrives on connection and takes huge enjoyment from helping others find confidence, friendship and a place to belong. Whether coaching, organising events or building community initiatives, she brings the same energy and enthusiasm to everything she does.

Proud of where she comes from, proud of her family and proud of the community around her, Laura considers herself lucky to spend so much of her time bringing people together and helping create communities where people feel welcome, valued and part of something.

*The People of Athlone Project*
🤩Meet Christopher Hewitt
Chris opened Biddy O Dowd’s pub ( / Biddy O’ Dowd’s) on Mardyke St. almost 4 years ago. The pub was originally Stephen Kelly’s and after many hands, it now stands as one of the great pubs in Athlone! Chris’ philosophy is easy, a good pint, clean and tidy and a good clientele is the secret.
Chris’ background in hospitality comes from numerous hotels and pubs, including the Hodson Bay Hotel and managing pubs in the Dublin area for one of Ireland's biggest pub gurus, Louis Fitzgerald, he also spent some years working in private member golf clubs in Florida and New York.

Chris also opened up another pub called the Turfman’s in Roscommon and just set up a pub tour business called ‘The Real Irish Pub Tour’ geared towards showing tourists the real Irish pub experience that he knows so well. If you haven’t visited Biddy O Dowd’s yet, make sure and call in!
