Introducing Christien Van Bussel
Christien Van Bussel works from her studio in Aughrim Co Wicklow where she designs and makes pottery (table-ware) and woodturned objects.
She makes moulds of plaster in which she casts clay-slip to shape the pottery. All pieces are glazed in bright colours and fired to 1250 degrees Celcius to make them strong and food-safe Over the years
Christien has gained wide experience in teaching adults and children in pottery and woodturning. She is on the Panel of tutors of the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland and is involved in their CRAFTed programme since 2008. She is also tutor with the KWETB and works with groups of all ages and abilities (special needs, family support). She organizes pottery and woodturning classes in her own studio where students are encouraged to explore their potential and creativity.
She has taught woodturning for 14 years in Aravon School in Bray to children from 9 years old, she teaches the same age group in her own studio. Christien is regularly invited to work with classes in primary and secondary schools (transition year) to facilitate the possibility to make cups, mugs, bowls while experimenting with a variety of techniques. She also works with groups on one project like a mural.

Introducing Mick Tottenham
A professional gardener since the 80s Mick has a lifelong love of colour and landscape .She feels that design and colour in the garden equate to painting the landscape in 3 D.
In the 90s Mick attended the National College of Art and Design and completed a degree in printmaking, but a short spell as assistant to the late sculptor Conor Fallon, a wonderful experience, kindled a desire to make 3 D art.
Ceramics came out of this desire and the love of that medium increased under the excellent guidance of Christein Van Boussel in Aughrim .Micks study of printmaking techniques has transferred to her ceramics.
Landscape, nature, wildlife, pets feature heavily in her work .
A native of Wicklow she lives there with her wife, Nicola, spaniel Paddy and Emily THE cat.

Contemporary Hot Studio glass, designed & made by Lucinda Robertson. My brand is about creating simple forms with coloured details. Each piece is free blown - made without the use of moulds. I like the viewer/user of my work to notice that handmade element. I'm interested in clean design elements comprised of simple lines. Another recurring feature in my work is experimenting with colour combinations, and more recently adding subtle detail to the colours. Most of Cinder's Glass range is utilitarian tableware.

Meet Lucinda Robertson studied at Orrefors Glass School in Sweden, where she was taught many techniques with an emphasis on simple forms. A Scandanavian design ethic continues to resonate in her work, which is predominantly functional.

The constant challenges of working with molten glass never fail to excite and inspire Lucinda as she manipulates the medium to make the most of unforeseen possibilities. Lucinda is inspired by colour and form, and references forms from nature or man made objects, which she sketches and develops into an idea suitable to the medium of glass. Lucinda, with over 25 years in glass making has worked considerably in Denmark at Bulow Glas, Inferno Glass and Baltic Sea Glass.

She has participated in a number of exhibitions, most recently ‘I Blow Glass’ at the Farmleigh Gallery, Dublin, where she drew inspiration from the galvanized or enameled bucket. More often left to rust, Lucinda instead celebrates in glass its design perfection with tapered sides to allow accurate pouring and horizontal ridges, known as ‘swedges’ to strengthen the vessel at its weakest point. Preconceptions are challenged as she works to dispel the association between blown glass and precious.

Meet Niki Purcell
My Landscape paintings evolve from my fascination with the relationships between light, wind and the landscape. Some of the paintings portray the effects of wind on the landscape and the changing cloudscapes of the sky, while others focus on moments of stillness and quiet contemplation. In each work I attempt to capture the transformation of an ordinary scene caused by the presence of the elemental powers- light, wind and the earth, to articulate and record in paint a moment of weather-driven drama or luminescent beauty that may otherwise fade and be lost…….

Meet Wendy McCarroll Sandeman

I paint in mixed media. My work features abstracted landscapes and seascapes. I am inspired by what I observe and experience around me, often built upon sketches made when out and about and old sketchbook entries. Other times it is more abstract. I start with the medium and then shapes, marks and images emerge. I enjoy the process of creating and building textures, colours and layers by manipulating the materials. In my work you may find remnants of the notes I have made as I go along or traces of materials that have been put down and then removed. Creating the work is an ongoing dialogue and part of its beauty is building that narrative.
