Marking the passing of Sighle Fitzgerald (1929–2026), who brought the Montessori method of education — founded by Dr Maria Montessori — to Ireland. A quiet pioneer whose work shaped generations of children and teachers. I had the privilege of studying the Montessori method myself in 1986 (nearly 40 years ago) and found it deeply inspiring — a philosophy that continues to shape how I see learning and care.
