End of the 2025 Season Review
The Course is now CLOSED for the 2025 Season.
We first would like to thank all our regulars, visitors and our neighbours for your continued support.
It was a busy year that started way back on the 5th April with the Opening Day seeing a Stag Party of 20 come for a round of Pitch and Putt as part of their activities. We were blessed in that we had a really good run of nice dry weather that allowed us to get open for Easter.
It was an eventful year with many firsts.
The first Sand Bunker to be created on the course, which was slightly forced on us following the significant tree damage that Storm Eowyn wreaked in January, but hopefully has added an extra challenge to the course.
Some amazing Scoring FIRSTS including a 3-Ball group of the McNern brothers which saw a first for Sandfield of 3 Holes in One on the same card and a first of a player getting 2 holes in One in the same round, with Dessie getting Holes in One on the 1st and 3rd Holes and then Mark finishing off the round with a Hole in One on the 18th Hole. If that wasn't enough there was a 4th Hole in One on the same day when Ashton Dixon aced the 9th Hole, another first for Sandfield of 4 Holes in One in a day.
Another amazing firsts story was Joanne McKevitt from Co. Down, first time playing Pitch and Putt on the first hole and with her first shot got a hole in one on the first hole.
Another first was Mark McNern who recorded 3 Holes in One through the Season which is another course record, and to celebrate that first we will be presenting Mark with a small trophy in due course to celebrate that achievement. However, it is worth noting that 2 players, Paul Wheelan and Dessie McNern, recorded 2 Holes in One in the season which under normal circumstances would be a first. Well done to all.
In Total there were 29 Holes in Ones reported.
On the scoring front Joe Kitterick posted an early low score of a Bogy Free 48 (6 Under Par) which lasted all summer and was only matched in the final weeks by James Devlin.
Other Players with Under-Par low scores this season were Dessie McNern (49), Frank Dorrian (52), Phil Hubbard (53), Paul Wheelan (53) and Matthew Cunningham (53).
