Well, well, well… Dessie’s McNern has struck very, very late on in the Season as he posted a 6 Under Par 48 yesterday to tie Mark at the top of the leaderboard.
Congratulations to Dessie on his new low score.

Looking at the weather forecast and potential storm in midweek it looks like today might well be the last weekend of the 2026 Season, so a last chance to post a low score or get that final Hole in One.

25/09/2026

As we draw towards the end of the Season we would like to warn our Players that depending on the weather towards the end of next week this weekend might be our last weekend.
So last chance to post that low score or get that hole in one and get on the leaderboard.
The current plan will be to remain Open until the 30th September as the forecast looks ok.

Last Sunday we were pleased to host this years annual renewal of the 'Gary McNern Memorial Trophy' contested between Dessie and Mark McNern.
Dessie was the defending holder of the Trophy but following their Summer break he came up against an in-form Mark after he posted a new course low score of 48 the previous week.
After the 2 round playoff Mark ran out a comfortable 6 shot winner this year with rounds of 54 (Par) and 52 (-2).
Congratulations to Mark.

We thank Dessie and Mark for their continued support for Sandfield Pitch and Putt.

Welcome to the 2026 Leaderboard Update in terms of the Low Score and the Player with the Most Holes in One.

As we head into the final weeks of the 2026 Season the Competition for both the Round Low Score and Number of Holes in One is hotting up. In the race for the Season Low Score it is a normal phenomenon as Players start get to know the finer points of the new course we have seen a number of player post new low scores in recent weeks. On Monday 24th August after a summer break Mark McNern managed to post a new low score of 48 (-6 Under) on his second round of the day to jump to the top of the 2026 Leaderboard.

In terms of Holes in One we hit 31 for the season this week with 2 Players absolutelyy ripping it up this year. Dessie McNern was leading the way for a good while with a fantastic 3 Holes in One, which actually matched Mark's winning total last season, but Phil Hubbard has managed to set a new record with an amazing total of 4 Holes in Ones. Phil's holes in one have come on the 1st, 7th, 15th and 17th Holes.

Anyway, weather permitting, we will have another 4 or 5 weeks for more of those Low Scores and Holes in One to be recorded.

Make sure to inform the cabin of any Holes in One and if you have a photo send it to out What's App or if you have an under Par round leave your card in or let us get a photo of it.
