We were really happy with the response to the Annascaul Arts festival that was run by Annascaul Adventures on Oct 2nd. It was the first art's event run by the group and they are gunning to do more of them later next year.

The organisers ( Annascaul Cafe is one of the committee members ) would like to thank every one that helped with this event. The artists included Una Ni She, Rosula Ward, Liz Brookes, Ciara Dorgan, Angie, Margaret Kennedy, Donna Twydell, Ellie O Flynn, Silke Michels, Aisling O' Connor, Aneta Dienst Majchrzak, Di**le Percussion Group led by Martin Schaerer,

The organisers included Noel and Maura Spillane, Liz Brookes, Orla and Phil Tarrant, Aidan Aoife kate, and Tom Gillespie

Many of the business were very kind to allow us to host the event in their premises. We initially thought we would be able to hold it outside but there was too much uncertainty with the weather. The businesses that contributed were : The Annascaul Sports Hall, Annascaul Community hall, The Leprechaun, Hannifin's bar, The South Pole, Patcheens, Bainin, Scoil Bhreac Chluain, West Kerry Live The Old Anchor, Foleys of Inch, Sammy's of Inch and West Kerry Brewery. Lisa Foley of Maine Valley Centre and Berry Sayers of Inch Community and Development Group, Feile na Bealtaine Organisation.

We sold 65 tickets on the day which was a little short of what we needed. GoFundme money from friends and relations along with workshop ticket sales, and on the day fund raising financed this event . The event cost 1319 Euro to host. 65 tickets was a great start and it means that events are very achievable and can be undertaken when everyone works together.

I personally wish to thank all those who contributed on the GoFundMe page. It is amazing the encouragement those 5 Euros ( and often more ) contributions all give . The energy that is derived when friends indicate that they believe in the event and in all the people involved. They believe in community. They believe in art, its magic, and its social contribution. They gave the confidence to hold this event and I wish to personally thank everyone so, so much for those amounts that you contributed.

We look forward to doing it all again next year. To everyone that helped and not necessarily mentioned here, - be proud of your achievement and never under estimate of what it all means Annascaul Adventures

It is great to have Margaret Kennedy photography helping us at this arts festival in Annascaul Oct 2nd at 10am . Margaret has great eye for a photo ( see her page )but her art is just as impressive. Participants of her workshop will work on slates and will also do some mono printing using ink and paper.

Ciara is a an artist living in Lispole, Co. Kerry, Ireland, who works primarily with acrylics to create many styles of paintings, but with a heavy focus on abstract styles. For the workshop Silke offers mindful drawing. We will be inspired by the nature around us and explore exercises in “Seeing" and with gentle guidance letting our Hands-Eyes and Breathe guide the drawing.
This workshop is suitable for everyone who feels they can’t draw and would like to explore the possibility of expressing themselves, regardless of the Inner Critique.
