NOT A DEAD END is a video game developed by artist and 'A Pond...' member that simulates the journey of a refugee seeking asylum in another country to find a better, more humane life. Their struggle is anything but easy and on their often perilous journeys, they are continually faced with uncertainties. NOT A DEAD END, which takes its cue from the 1980s arcade game Pac-Man, invited players to navigate a maze and overcome different obstacles to find their way out. Through his game, Fajar wants to raise awareness about the difficult and precarious situation of refugees in Indonesia and around the world.
The game also functions as a fundraising tool in support of a community of nearly 200 refugees who live in an abandoned building in Kalideres, Jakarta, in particular to establish a fund for the self-run school at the camp.
You can play the game for online at www.notadeadend.com (link in bio !), where we warmly invite you to make a donation.
From 6 Octโ14 Nov 2021, NOT A DEAD END is presented in the form of an arcade machine at the at JNM, where we are also taking cash donations (buy a coin and play!) .
