This picture compares the visual of an elegant chessboard treasure (Elegant Chessboard) when checked in the menu.

In the 2005 version (bottom), the chessboard structure looks very thick with a fiery red wooden frame, stiff giant gold support legs, and deep black shadows on yellow-white tiles due to old-era static shadow technology.

On the other hand, the 2023 version (above) remodels this object to be much sleeker and proportional; the chess tiles now feature a luxurious natural marble marfil texture, more finely carved gold support legs, and the position of the Golden King and Silver Horse pieces that are made more dynamic.

The unique fact, the visual improvement thanks to the RE Engine managed to improve the logical placement of the chess pieces to match the name “rare design” in the description.

In the remake version, the silver Horse and the golden King’s pieces are placed on a plot that contrasts with its body color, highlighting the micro-sculpted details on the horse’s head and the king’s crown that sparkles naturally as this 3D object is freely rotated by the player before being sold to The Merchant.

This picture compares the visual of the brass pocket watch treasure object (Brass Pocket Watch) in the Resident Evil 4 inspection menu.

In the 2005 version (below), the limitations of the old era graphics made the pocket clock displayed in a rigid slanted horizontal position with a brass metal texture that looks opaque and a thick circular gold chain with a rough polygonal shape.

On the other hand, the 2023 version (above) completely overhauls this object into a very elegant standing 3D model with sharp Roman numerals on the dial, realistic protective glass sheen, and thin chains that dangle dynamically flexibly.

The unique fact is, the visual improvement thanks to the RE Engine successfully displays the texture of the aged brass material in a deep way in the remake version.

If the clock is turned, players can now see details of delicate flower ornaments around the outer case of the watch as well as logical signs of physical wear, reinforcing the environmental narrative that this valuable object is an antique that has long been kept in the rural area before being sold to The Merchant.

This image compares the appearance of Velvet Blue’s precious crystal when checked in the inventory menu.

In the 2005 version (bottom), this purple crystal is displayed directly above the solid suitcase menu screen, with a rigid three-pointed crystal block structure and has a pixelated static sheen texture typical of the PS2 era.

On the other hand, the 2023 version (above) completely reorganized its appearance into a cluster of high-resolution amethyst crystals with more numerous, dense, and beautifully protruding crystal needles.

The unique fact, the visual improvement thanks to this RE Engine managed to present a very realistic crystal transparency effect in the remake version.

Each end of the 2023 version of Velvet Blue crystal is able to reflect the light dynamically and show the details of the clear mineral facet inside, making this precious jewel look much more aesthetically valuable when collected throughout Leon’s adventure.

This picture compares the visual when the player gets a high-value treasure in the form of gold bars.

In the 2005 version (below), gold is shown as three neatly symmetrical pure beams with a stinging white glow that covers its flat texture.

On the other hand, the 2023 version (above) completely remodels its appearance into a large ancient gold bar that looks rough and irregular, complete with hieroglyphic engravings or faint ancient motifs on the surface.

The unique fact is, Capcom changed this gold form to have a stronger story value and historical context in the game.

The gold bars in the remake version (2023) are designed to look like an ancient treasure of the Salazar noble family that has been buried for hundreds of years, not modern factory-made gold bars as seen in the original version in 2005.

This image compares the appearance of Ruby gemstones when checked in the inventory menu.

In the 2005 version (below), Ruby is displayed in the shape of a piece that tends to be rounded with a deep dark red color, where the details of the light reflection are still very limited due to the old era graphic technology.

On the other hand, the 2023 version (above) completely overhauls this precious stone into a stunning piece of high-resolution elliptical facet, emitting a bright and translucent crimson red color like a luxurious real crystal.

The unique fact is, the inspection menu in the remake version is now equipped with a functional description and a much more complete interactive navigation button at the bottom of the screen.

Players can now rotate, zoom, and rearrange the position of the Ruby stone freely to admire the beauty of its light reflection before being paired into a combined treasure slot to boost its selling price to The Merchant.

This image compares the ancient ring object in the inventory menu. The 2005 version (bottom) features a thick polygonal Amber Ring. The model looks stiff with a dull tanned gold color.

On the other hand, the 2023 version (above) remodeled it to be more streamlined and elegant. The pure gold frame is smooth with sparkling round red gemstones.

The unique fact is, Capcom adds a very precise heart motif engraving. This filigree carving adorns along the side of the remake version of the ring frame.

The micro details emphasize the aesthetic value of the luxurious jewelry of the ancient castle. This is far different from the old version of the opaque engraving. This valuable object can be freely rotated before being sold to traders.

This picture compares the visual display when players take a functional currency in the game, namely Pesetas.

In the 2005 version (below), coins are displayed in a small wooden jewelry box that is exposed with a stinging white glow effect to disguise the texture of gold coins that are still flat.

On the other hand, the 2023 version (above) completely remodeled this representation into a leather bag containing a pile of gold coins that spilled realistically, complete with a transparent inspection menu that directly shows the action of Leon running in the background.

The unique fact, Capcom changed the form of this money discovery to make it feel more dynamic and in accordance with the context of where it was found.

In the remake version, if the player defeats the enemy or destroys the barrel, the money obtained no longer always appears in a rigid wooden box, but in the form of coffers, cloth bags or kumal leather relics from ancient Spanish villagers, making the economic system in the game feel more organic.

This picture compares the appearance of the gold bracelet treasure object with pearl decoration (Gold Bangle w/ Pearls) when checked in the inventory menu.

In the 2005 version (bottom), the limitations of the PS2 era graphics make the gold surface look dull and brown with a row of pearls that emit a static white lens flare effect to cover its simple texture.

On the other hand, the 2023 version (above) remodels it very luxuriously using a high-resolution 3D model that features a smooth pure gold sheen, precise flower motif carvings along the sides, and white pearls that look naturally shiny.

The unique fact of this bracelet lies in the change of name and its value which is adjusted to make it feel more authentic in the remake version.

If in the original version of 2005 this object is named Gold Bangle w/ Pearls, in the 2023 version the name is simplified to Pearl Bangle, because this type of pearl is very rare and highly valuable, making it one of the most sought-after artifact commodities to sell to The Merchant.
