In a world that pressures me to optimize, automate, preform & produce, I find myself wanting to rebel.
To explore my own thoughts and write them out as articulately as I can, even if ai could prompt it more succinctly. To show up and create with my hands, even if the outcome isn’t polished or perfected. To stumble my way through genuine, face-to-face conversations over edited and scripted texts.
It’s a paradox that I express this through a platform built on selective filters. It doesn’t make my point any less honest, but it does add a layer of complexity and nuance. Being an artist to me is more than the medium; it’s about expressing a voice that shares something with the world in a way that blends observations, emotional processing, storytelling, and values. (Hopefully) to provoke & push us towards a deeper, more connected and evolved way of being. Delivered through craftsmanship & mediums that are felt by the viewer — sometimes beautiful, sometimes uncomfortable, but palpable & visceral.
I don’t know if I’ll grasp the fullness of what this way of being can truly be for society, but I’m consistently humbled by those brave enough to commit to it in a time where profit and greed are at its peak. To choose the path of an artist is an act of rebellion in the most incredible way to me.
My eyes may be tired but my soul is on fire, and if you want to hear more of my thoughts, expressed through a variety of forms of writing, I’ll be sharing a Substack on here soon 🪽
TLDR version of script above - art is rad & is one of those few things that will keep the human spirit alive in these trying times. Keep creating with your hands doing things irl & analog style :)
Happy Monday ~~
