Back in the ’50s, Disneyland actually let people fish over at Tom Sawyer Island in a little spot called Catfish Cove.

You could just grab a pole, scoop up some worms, and see if you could catch anything. If you did, they’d clean the fish for you, pack it on ice, and hold onto it at a restaurant until the park closed.

They eventually had to shut it down, though—people started leaving fish everywhere, and it got pretty gross.

Lala was an injured king penguin who got a second shot at life in Japan. He got so attached to his caregivers that he never wanted to leave, so they adopted him and even set him up with his own air-conditioned room at home.

He’d wander around the neighborhood, grab fish from the local shop, and hang out with the family for about 10 years before passing away from old age in 1996.
