Today in our Humans of Waterbom, we meet I Nengah Widnyana from our Lifeguard team, better known among his friends as “Nengah Bule.” The nickname comes from his light brown eyes, which give him a bit of a “bule” look. (a local nickname for foreigner)
He started working at Waterbom in 2009 as a lifeguard, and over the years has proven himself every step of the way and grown his skills, so today, he’s an Assistant Lifeguard Supervisor. In his role, he helps oversee park preparations before opening and ensures everything runs smoothly, and most importantly, safely. What he enjoys most each day is the interaction, staying connected with both guests and his team.
Off duty, he loves spending time with family, working out, or heading outdoors for a hike. He’s even conquered one of Indonesia’s highest mountains, Mount Rinjani — a four-day, three-night journey that required plenty of preparation to handle the cold and conditions along the way.
If he could have one superpower? He’d choose Doraemon’s magic pocket, (a Japanese anime character) especially the “Anywhere Door,” so he could teleport anytime 🚪✨
Thanks for sharing your story, Nengah Bule!
