Five years ago today, we braved wildfires and COVID to drive 2000 miles from Portland to Los Angeles and find a sad, scraggly blood-sneezing cat to bring her into our lives.
With love and attention - and a surgery to remove two ectopic fetuses from her abdomen - Haruspex transformed from that shy shelter cat into our beefy, rock-loving companion. She met guinea pigs, punched at birds (and people), traveled across the world, and became a stable fixture in our chaotic, stressful lives.
Sadly, after battling kidney disease for nearly four years, she passed away in our arms on July 8th, 2026. The hole she left in our hearts still aches every day.
Today is sad, but also bittersweet as we try to remember that the immense pain and loss we feel right now is evidence of how precious the time we had together was.❤️🫂
Happy adoption day, Haruspex.
We love you and miss you. 😭
