🪺 Marie Lukáčová is a painter, animator, director, rapper and co-founder of the feminist group Fourth Wave, which opened a debate on the topic of sexism at Czech universities. She works mainly with the medium of video and video installation. Her films refashion symbols borrowed from the spheres of politics, mythology, geology, and science. In 2019 she was a finalist in the Jindřich Chalupecký Award.

🐳 At present she is a lecturer at the Centre for Audiovisual Studies at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU).

🦑 ARTISTS CONTRIBUTING TO EMC2023 #9:

🐲 Born in 1974 midsummer night, receiving his first degree in Psychology (2004), and the second in Painting / Fine arts (2020) Róbert Békefi has been practicing ceramic arts, puppet-making, muralism, community art and environmental activism amongst other joys. He has been engaged in art education for adults and recently developing a bio-fertilizer product together with earthworms. All living creatures, especially microbes, love him.

🦃 His chosen mushroom is turkey tail.

🐎 ARTISTS CONTRIBUTING TO EMC2023 #8:

🌬️ As an artist, Csilla Hódi is experimenting with the potential of artistic worldmaking at the borders and outside of (social) institutions of art. Instead of foregrounding the singular artist, she is inhabiting the 'underground', tactically using lack of clarity, overidentification or collectivity. She is interested in the interplay of knowledge bodies emerging from different disciplines and genetics. At the moment she is looking at possible human ways of thinking with mushrooms.

🌾 She has her roots in Eastern-european post-studio art, in embodied public space research, in life as art traditions and in emancipatory practices. Formally educated as a designer in Budapest and a choreographer in Stockholm.

🌙 Her chosen mushroom is willow shield.

🐯 ARTISTS CONTRIBUTING TO EMC2023 #7:

🦠 Attila Stark is a Budapest-based artist. He studied graphics and illustration, although, among his works we can find murals, paintings, and publications as well. He also had his own visual albums published by Roham and Symposion. His fanzines and screen prints can be found at comic book festivals both in Hungary and abroad. Through his works, we get to know his personal world, which at first was based on the metropolitan environment, but gradually, the characters and motifs developing there got into new situations. Despite being dangerous and difficult, this world is also funny and without any aesthetic boundaries or censorship, where absurdity takes over existential suffering. Perverted ponies, luscious creatures, Alfred Jarry, Raymond Roussel, William Burroughs and others can be found in his intelligent, yet brutally raw artworks. However, they don’t stay for long to avoid becoming victims of some hidden passion.
