Pápa Város Fúvószenekara 1946-ban alakult meg Bircher József vezetésével, de jogelődje már 1918-ban létezett. A zenekar a kezdetektől állandó résztvevője lett a városi ünnepségeknek, egész estés koncerteket adott, az évek múlásával országszerte több városban is fellépett. Az évtizedek során voltak nehezebb időszakok is, már-már a megszűnés fenyegette a zenekart. De talán a zene szeretetének és a z
enekar múltjának hála ez nem történt meg.
2006. március 15-én „Pápa Város Fúvószenekara megkapta az elmúlt hatvan évben végzett kiemelkedő művészi munkájáért” Pápa Város Díszoklevelét. Horváth Adrián 2008 óta vezette Pápa Város Fúvószenekarát. 2011-ben alakult meg a Pápai Fúvósok Egyesülete, mely azóta szervezi a zenekar mindennapi életét. 2005-ben útjára indult az Újévi Fúvós Show sorozat is, ami máig meghatározó koncertje a zenekarnak. 2012-től kezdve nagy hangsúly került a show elemekre, így az elmúlt egy évtizedben a közönség láthatta és hallhatta a Blues Brothers showt, együtt énekelték az ABBA slágereit a zenekarral, de volt Swing, Hair, és Queen Show is. Szakmailag a legnagyobb sikert a 2015. évi ABBA Show jelentette. Ekkor kapta meg a zenekar kiemelt arany minősítését szórakoztató C (felső) kategóriában. című előadás pedig koncertfúvós C kategóriában eredményezett arany minősítést. Az Újévi Fúvós Show az évek alatt a város egyik legkedveltebb előadása lett, Pápán és a környékbeli településeken több mint 2000 ember vesz részt a koncerteken. Pápa Város Fúvószenekara 2013-ban költözött új helyére, a Városháza pincéjébe, amely saját próbatermeként szolgál a zenekarnak. Számos külföldi, nemzetközi fesztiválon vett részt az elmúlt években, de ezen is túlmutatott az a törekvés, hogy saját fesztivált hozzanak létre Pápán. Ennek köszönhetően Pápa Város Fúvószenekara már két alkalommal szervezte meg nagyszabású, nemzetközi fúvószenekari fesztiválját, a 2. rendezvény egyúttal a zenekar fennállásának 100. évfordulója is volt. A járvány időszaka alatt bár hosszú ideig próbálni sem volt lehetősége a zenekarnak, el kellett halasztani a harmadik fesztivált és elmaradt egy Újévi Fúvós Show is, a háttérben mindezek ellenére folyamatosan folyt a munka. Horváth Adriánnak köszönhetően új szerzemények, hangszerelések születtek, megújult a zenekar egyenruhája, és hatalmas technológiai fejlődés is történt. A zenekar 2021 októberében lecserélte a hagyományos papír alapú kottáit digitális formátumúakra, az egyesület és a zenészek munkáját iPad-ek segítik.
2023-ban Adrián új kihívások elé nézett, így Lődi Bence irányításával folytatja a zenekar a közös munkát. Ez év nyarán immáron harmadik alkalommal ismét sikerült megrendezni a ,,Csináljuk a fesztivált!" koncertsorozatot, amelyen a híres holland zeneszerző, Jacob de Haan is részt vett. The Concert Band of Papa has established in 1946 leading by Jozsef Bircher but it’s legal predecessor had existed since 1918. The band has taken part of the local celebrations since the very beginning, had concert evenings, and played music all around the country. During the decades there were tough periods when the band was almost vanished. But thanks to the love we feel for music and the long and great history of the band it never happened. Adrian Horvath has been conducting the Concert Band of Pápa since 2008. The association, that arrange the everyday life of the band, was formed in 2011. The first New Year’s Show was in 2005 and it’s one of the most significant concert of the band ever since. More and more show elements were implanted into the concerts so in the past few years the audience could see and hear the Blues Brothers Show, sing together the best ABBA songs, and the band played Swing, Hair and also Queen Show. The biggest professional success was the ABBA Show in 2015 since the band reaches top gold rating in show C (top) category. One year later the “Let’s dance” show brought gold rating in concert C (top) category to the band. The New Year’s Show has become the most popular performance over the years, more than 2000 people buy ticket for these concerts in Pápa and its surrounding. The Concert Band of Pápa moved to its new rehearsal room, the basement of the City Hall in 2013. The band has participated in many international, foreign festival in the past years but in one point it wasn’t enough so the idea of its own festival was born. And it became reality as the Concert Band of Pápa has already organised its large-scale international concert band festival twice on the Main Square of Pápa. The 2nd The Show Must Go On event was also the 100th anniversary of the band. Although the band could not practice for a long time during the pandemic, the 3rd festival had to be postponed and even a New Year’s Show was missed, the work was still going on behind the scene. New compositions and arrangements were born thanks to Adrian Horvath, the band has new uniform and also a huge technology development has happened. The traditional paper sheet music was replaced by digital ones in October 2021, so the work of the association and the musicians is supported by iPads since.
