Long time no see.
Can’t even remember when was the last time I’ve sat down to work on a scale model.
Well, anyway, here I am on the tools again.
I’ve put together this little human torpedo, operated by the Italians during WWII.
Aiming to finish it this year 😆

Late last year I’ve decided to make an inventory of my stash. My models have been packed away in varoius different boxes, and I have lost track of what I have.
I took photos of every single box (all sides), and if the box was already open I have take a photo of the content as well. I’ve also registered all the data in a spreadsheet.

Matchbox kits were not so easy to come by in the Eastern Bloc back in the ‘80s when I used to build them. They were not cheap for a kid either. But they represented something beyond our reach. I used to hang them from the ceiling. Sometimes when scale modeller friends came together, we use to imitate dog fight, running around, narrating the sounds of machine gun fire and explosions. Those were the times…

All my old models are hone now.

A couple of years ago, when I‘ve picked up scale modelling again, I started buying the Matchbox kits. I guess out of sentimentalism. Mostly those, produced in the ‘70s and ‘80s
I‘ve lso built a couple.

When I used to live in Australia the postage fees were really hugh from the rest of the world, so I got my purchases delivered to friends and family members in Hungary. Now that I am stationed in Europe, it was time to look at my stash here.

Even during breakfast at the hotel the tv program was in remembrance of the D-Day.

I really hope the wather will be friendly. Although the forecast isn’t that promising.

Duxford, here we come!
After last year’s awesome BoB Airshow at Duxford, I’ve decided to return for the D-Day Air Show.
First lag: traveling to London today.
Accompanied by the missuss this time. I guess she was curious what’s all the buzz about these air shows. Well, she might turn into an aviation enthusiast…
And if not, the ABBA concert tonight will be an unforgettable event for her anyway.
