🥂🍾🤘 The feedbacks of the past weeks has confirmed what we already felt: what we do is not comfortable — but the silence is over, and it makes sense to let our voices be heard.
When it comes to our music, we’d rather let others speak from us, but we want to say a huge thank you to all our listeners and friends, and wish you a happier New Year than the previous ones! 🍾
So here are a few excerpts from reviews that have already been published.
The full reviews, interviews, etc. can be found in earlier posts and their online sites.

SESQUIPEDALIOPHOBIA – The Gospel of Profanum EP
—
“The EP’s concept addresses taboo subjects such as human desire, its repression, the process of self-revelation, and the question that runs through the entire work: Why is violence less of a taboo than s*x?
The arrival of The Gospel of Profanum once again highlights that the Hungarian extreme metal scene is still capable of producing bold and boundary-pushing works — and with this debut release, SESQUIPEDALIOPHOBIA already demands serious attention.”

“Sesquipedaliophobia plays a style of black metal that is very raw and symphonic sounding.
The production sounds very professional, while the lyrics cover taboo, erotic tension, inner conflict, and social transgression.
In my opinion, Sesquipedaliophobia are a very great sounding raw and symphonic black metal band, and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this EP.”

“Sesquipedaliophobia is a fresh Hungarian extreme metal trio that makes it clear already with their first EP that they do not intend to operate within the safe zone of genre conventions, but instead aim to push boundaries.”
“The project’s choice of name is definitely expressive and self-reflective…
Fear is born by confronting the object of fear, shame by naming shame, and taboo by speaking the taboo — the paradox of the name thus perfectly mirrors the lyrical world of the band, which is the true backbone of the project.
…This is not scandal for its own sake, but a consciously formulated set of questions.
The Gospel of Profanum does not want to speak to everyone — and that is precisely what makes it authentic.
A bold, conceptual, dark, and intelligent release that builds an unusual yet consistent world around the unspeakable.”

“The foundation of Sesquipedaliophobia lies in the conscious dissection of taboo topics and the questions arising from them.
At the core of the lyrics are human desire, honesty, and irony, with the emphasis placed on self-exploration.”
“The EP’s opening track — which also serves as the intro — is Porta, beginning in a mysterious and chilling manner.
An entry into a world without taboos. A door where everything can be spoken aloud. I won’t deny it: this seriously piqued my curiosity about what they were about to throw in the listener’s face.”
“Reverse then immediately explodes, launching the assault with merciless momentum.”
“Ardorifer’s black metal vocal style truly turns the song pitch-black, while Istar’s guitar solo adds a distinctly stylish touch. Lyrically, it deals with misunderstood motifs and misinterpreted desires: many symbols and instincts have been severed from their original meanings in today’s world, and this song dissects that very problem. I didn’t think I’d find a track that would provoke such deep reflection, but Reverse definitely did.”
“The next track is Dead on the Throne (897), which further intensifies the dark atmosphere…”
“Structurally, it is highly melodic, at times blending silkily into the dark, somber medieval atmosphere, further reinforced by choral singing and Gregorian influences. Its impact does not come from speed, but from its overall construction. …This track won me over completely.”
“The closing track is A Torn Page from Someone’s 69th Letter, featuring Boris as a guest. The song revolves around a provocative question: why do we feel shame about desire, but not about violence? Eroticism and physicality remain taboo, while violence is socially ‘accepted’ — and indeed, we are confronted with this almost daily.”
“The songs are structurally detailed and meticulously crafted, the mastering is flawless, and fortunately they are not characterized by that ‘cassette-like’ 90s sound (however authentic and TRVE that might be). The lyrical themes are deeply thought-provoking.”
“For me, Sesquipedaliophobia’s debut was flawless, and I sincerely hope I’ll have the opportunity to write more extensively about them in the future.”
