The first piece in my The Tables of Writers and Artists series was created in 2025. In the painting, I captured the Dragomán family’s dinner table, accompanied by a beautiful reflection written by Szabó T. Anna . Here it is:

“Setting the table has been important to both of us from the very beginning. There have always been flowers and fruit, and an old woven tablecloth on our round table inherited from my grandmother. But it was only after I turned forty that the endless possibilities of the dining table became something of an obsession for me.

I have collected countless tablecloths, plates, and other tableware for all kinds of occasions, but above all, I love imagining different colourful settings for Gyuri’s cooking. I am fascinated by the dynamics of the dining table.

It all began in Finland, with the Iittala plates you can see here. The book is on the table because it had arrived in the post that very day. A week earlier, we had given a guided tour at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts’ Best of Diploma 2025 exhibition, and while preparing for it, I had started reading about Daniel Spoerri—who, like me, was born in Romania—and about his Eat Art and trap paintings. I immediately ordered the book, and that evening I would actually have preferred to read it rather than set the table or eat.

Still, I took out some beautiful plates, and we quickly put whatever food we had at home on the table. Gyuri bakes fresh bread every day, and it is at the heart of our smaller meals, so that is what I usually shop around. And then there is the candle, of course, which we light even on weekdays and during the day.

We often talk about books at the table anyway, but fortunately Gyuri always believes in giving a meal the attention it deserves. So at our table there is no reading, no scrolling on our phones, and watching television is not something we do anyway. We even rarely listen to music in the background while we eat.

We simply enjoy the flavours, the colours, and the aromas. We slow down for a while and have good conversations. Every meal is a celebration.”

I am currently working on two parallel painting series.

The first series is rooted in personal stories—family bonds, my relationships, maternal care, and the small yet defining moments of everyday life.

The second series explores the tables of writers and artists. I invite each participant to share a photograph of their table along with a short personal reflection on what this place means to them. These become the starting point for the paintings—not portraits, but visual traces of stories, memories, and creative worlds.

Last summer, we spent two unforgettable weeks in Bretagne, France.

This painting is a memory of that journey. Although it depicts a shared dinner, it actually carries the essence of the entire trip: sea kayaking, land sailing, beautiful little villages, breathtaking castles, long hikes, charming places to stay, and the wonderful feeling of freedom that stayed with us throughout.

Sometimes, a painting preserves the memory of an entire journey.

Today is a very special day for us.
For the past six years, we’ve celebrated our anniversary together, and this year we chose the extraordinary experience of the Michelin-starred Textúra restaurant.
Every course was beautifully crafted, and the service was impeccable.
Of course, we couldn’t leave without taking a few photos… and this memory will soon find its way onto a new painting.

I will have a solo exhibition in the fall. 🥳🍂

There’s still a lot to do until October; I’m currently working on two paintings at the same time.

One is a love confession painted in shades of red and black. The other is a family scene in turquoise and orange tones, just moments before baking the pizza…

Back to one of my favorite places. 🤍

The Balaton Highlands never fails to inspire me. Every time we return to our family summer house, I find myself drawn to the tables, the light, the little everyday moments… and somehow, they always end up in my paintings.

Nagyon inspiráló találkozás volt . 🤍

Orsi a festészet mellett múzeumpedagógiával is foglalkozik.

The connection between gastronomy and art is more fascinating than it might seem. 🍋🎨
As part of my DLA research on a gastronomy-based, multisensory museum education, I visited the Nemes Gallery with a group of children. Together, we explored how different tastes can influence the way we experience a painting.
A heartfelt thank you to the Nemes Gallery for their openness and for making this experience possible. ❤️

Daniel Spoerri is one of the most influential artists for me. His work has left a deep impression on me, especially his trap pictures and his way of thinking centered around shared meals. This world has fascinated me since childhood.
Perhaps it is no coincidence that my own paintings often evoke his perspective. I see these connections not as imitation, but as a kind of personal dialogue, a paraphrase.
Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the Ausstellungshaus Spoerri in Austria.…
