MiraTone Festival and Academy

MiraTone Festival and Academy ✨ One of Europe’s most exciting classical music festivals 🎶 🌍 Concerts • master classes • global community
🎻 Led by violinist Miranda Liu.
📍Budapest

Since it was founded in 2019, the New Millennium International Chamber Music Festival and Academy (NMICMF) has been a growing international community organized and directed by American-Hungarian violinist Miranda Liu, Hungary’s youngest concertmaster. Based in the heart of Europe, the festival is proud to have an all-star roster that is both international and diverse. Its invited artists are based

in Hungary, Spain, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Portugal, Romania, England, Bulgaria, Austria, England, and the Czech Republic, among others. The festival has taken place annually in the heart of Budapest at the end of August / beginning of September and has received attention from the Hungarian and international press for its innovation, in printed form, radio and television. Over 80 students from over 25 different countries have participated actively in the academy, both online and in person, the majority of which are talented musicians of the young generation looking for ways to grow artistically. One of the festival and academy’s goals is to unite different countries as well as different branches of art, opening the doors to future artistic collaborations between artists. The NMICMF is working together with international partners; in 2023 alone, “Edition Vilagarcía” and “Edition Ruse” Bulgaria were organized in Spain and Bulgaria, respectively. The festival and academy's partner and the only legal entity entitled to represent the Festival and Academy since 12 July 2023 is the V4 Music Foundation, a non-profit foundation registered in Hungary. 🎻 Voices of MiraTone continues 🌍✨

We’re sharing thoughts from violinist Daniel Rumler this time — a musician who has experienced MiraTone from the inside and knows its energy first-hand.

Every edition brings together musicians from all over the world, and something special always happens when those different perspectives meet in one place.

As we keep working on preparations for the 8th edition of MiraTone, let us take another moment to look back at last year’s marvellous masterclasses with cellists Tomáš Jamník and Bartosz Koziak. We are super excited to have both of these exceptional artists again this year!

Having recently finalized MiraTone’s artist roster for 2026, let us continue to proudly introduce this year’s professors.

Meet pianist Krzysztof Książek, one of the most universal Polish artists of his generation.
Awarded and appreciated especially for his performances of Fryderyk Chopin’s works and Polish music, Krzysztof does not avoid lesser known repertoire and the newest music either. He also finds great joy in performing on historical instruments, and is a dedicated and sought-after chamber music player.
Together with his wife he co-founded the Książek Piano Duo, winning First Prize at the Second International Polish Music Competition in Rzeszów and Second Prize at the 12th International Chamber Music Competition “Franz Schubert and Modern Music” in Graz.

It is a privilege to welcome exceptional musicians like Krzysztof, we are more than thrilled to have him for the first time at MiraTone Festival.

Another voice of MiraTone 💛

For the next edition of Voices of MiraTone, we’re happy to share a few thoughts from clarinetist Sérgio Pires — an artist whose energy, openness, and musicianship perfectly reflect the spirit of the festival. 🌍🎶

One of the most beautiful things about MiraTone is that beyond the concerts and master classes, real conversations and connections happen between people from all over the world. Every artist brings a different perspective, experience, and personality — and that’s exactly what makes this community feel so alive each summer in Budapest.

Introducing a new series: Voices of MiraTone 🎻

Beyond concerts and master classes, MiraTone is built on conversations, ideas, friendships, and the many different artistic voices that come together each summer in Budapest.

Through this series, we’ll be sharing personal reflections, thoughts, and moments from the artists who shape the festival — beginning with François Dumont, pianiste. 💛

Another MiraTone FAQ 💬

A very practical one this time: where do the courses actually take place?

Most of our venues are located in and around central Budapest — mainly in the 1st, 5th, 6th and 9th districts — so everything is within easy reach and close to the city’s cultural heart. 🎻

Participants arrange their own accommodation, which gives flexibility and freedom to choose what suits them best. Once your place at MiraTone is confirmed, we recommend booking early.

✨ Attention flutists! ✨

One of the leading flutists of today is coming to MiraTone 2026. 🎶

We are thrilled to welcome back Adriana Ferreira for flute master classes at the MiraTone Festival & Academy.

Currently Principal Flute of the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Adriana has also held principal positions with the Rotterdam Philharmonic and the Orchestre National de France in Paris.

Her international career took off remarkably early — at just 19 years old, she won First Prize, the Orchestra Prize, and the Young Jury Prize at the prestigious Carl Nielsen International Flute Competition.

An inspiring artist, orchestral musician, and teacher — and a wonderful presence at MiraTone. 💛

Applications are already coming in quickly, and flute places are filling up.
