Senki:
Ákos Rikter - Guitar/Vocals
Olivér Takács - Bass
Adrián Miskoltzy - Drums
Laura:
Thank you for your time. Please give us the backstory about how and when your band was established.
Ákos:
I started it as a solo project back in 2018. As an amateur, I began recording songs for myself, which I then shared in Facebook groups and on my own page. In 2022, I decided to form a full band; Olivér was the first to join me. The current lineup with Adrián was finalized in 2025, after several other musicians had played with us along the way.
Laura:
How would you describe your music-making process for “Szilánkok?”
Ákos:
“Szilánkok” (Splinters) starts with the title track, which describes a relationship crisis filled with realizations and lessons learned. This sparked the idea of turning it into a more personal EP, functioning as a kind of confession to myself. The emotional weight of this concept is palpable throughout the record; it follows a softer, more melodic path because my songwriting process is entirely intuitive. The song essentially writes itself. As for the technical side, I still handle the recording myself in my rehearsal space, entrusting only the mixing to my friend, Viktor Máris.
Laura:
Do you have a favorite song you like to perform the most? If so, can you please explain why?
Ákos:
It’s hard to choose, but “Mint csillag az égen” (Like a Star in the Sky) is one of my favorites in that regard. There’s so much energy in the song, both in the vocal style and the way it builds up, and that completely consumes me while performing. But honestly, the same can be said for many of our songs. I love each of them for a different reason.
Laura:
Can you please spill some behind-the-scenes details about how you prepare for shows?
Ákos:
On my part, I always practice the songs as if we were already on stage; combining the vocals with the movement is a tough task that requires you to be in shape. Otherwise, everyone learns their parts individually, and we occasionally have a rehearsal before a show. This setup works perfectly fine as long as everyone knows their job.
Laura:
What genre of music do you consider Senki to be?
Ákos:
Don't really like to categorize it into any specific genre. For one thing, that's becoming rare nowadays anyway, but Senki covers a very broad spectrum of metal. When people ask what genre we are, I usually just say, “all of them.”
Laura:
Why call the band “Senki?”
Ákos:
Back in my solo days, it started under the name “Csak Egy Senki” (Just a Nobody). Primarily, it symbolized a rebellion against the labels that are usually forced upon us or that we adopt out of social conformity, whether that’s our profession, our experiences, our names, or anything worldly. With the formation of the band, I simplified it to “Senki” (Nobody) to preserve its philosophical meaning while reflecting on the evolution of the project.
Laura:
What should fans expect to experience at a show?
Ákos:
Fans can expect an incredibly energetic, emotional, and honest performance that remains very human and accessible at the same time. All of this hits the audience with such force that you’re inevitably soaked in that energy. I guarantee it.
Laura:
Typical question here. Who has influenced you the most via music?
Ákos:
Slipknot used to be my favorite, which is definitely noticeable in our music, but I’m open to a lot of things 'with one ear' and can draw inspiration from any kind of music. That said, I haven't actually listened to anything for 15 years; since then, it's been increasingly true that even the smallest noises in nature are enough to trigger my creativity.
Laura:
How can fans and future fans locate, listen to and buy your music?
Ákos:
We are present on almost every music platform, but we are most active on YouTube, where you can even find songs dating back to the very beginning. For now, there is no option to purchase our music directly.
Laura:
Is there anything else you would like your fans to know?
Ákos:
Do not be afraid to be a nobody in a world where everyone wants to seem like somebody. I hope our music and its message provide a foothold for many people regarding this and many similar questions.
Laura:
What’s coming up next for Senki?
Akos:
I have decided that we will continue as a four-piece; I’m looking to bring on another guitarist alongside me. During the summer, we will be filming a music video for a brand-new song. This track won't just be a preview of our upcoming full-length album, but it will also feature our new guitarist and a fresh visual identity, showing you exactly how you’ll see us on stage from that point forward. Thank you for the opportunity!
Laura:
It’s my pleasure. I appreciate your time!
