CineClub Budapest

Within this event we tend to screen documentaries, short films and movies that are related to the artistic practice of our doctoral school artists. In fact what we examine in this program is to see how movie projects with a certain impact can help the society or individuals to understand the contemporary society better. From one man crew projects to video art projects, CineClub is open to showcase

the works to a wider audience with a chance of having Q&A and discussion sessions between the audience and the creators. The first season of CineClub will take place within Nyitva Fesztivál Budapest in April 2023. In this program we will screen projects which were done by artists from different parts of the world. In this season we are considering “Art, Cinema and Society” theme to see how the artists examine social issues with a critical approach.In addition, we talk about how to use the tools of cinema and media to show personal concerns that are related to social issues in a wider perspective. Each 2-hour meeting with a specific topic will examine the title of the meeting with the participation of the audience and the creator of the work and possibly the guest speaker of the meeting. Screening of short and documentary films made by students and colleagues at the doctoral school of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. This program is accompanied by the screening of a film and the audience can ask their questions to the director and producer of the film. Based on the outline or topic of the film, we can invite guests to discuss the topic. The topics discussed can be about cinematic issues or social issues related to documentary films.
