Esperia is a small fellowship of musicians with different artistic background but the same enthusiasm for the traditional and urban music of Greece. The band's basis is the violin-guitar-vocal trio presented by Giorgos Moysidis, Nikolas Mantzourakis and Veronika Varga, which many times extended with other musical instruments such as accordion, percussions and clarinet. The name ”Esperia” derives
from the Ancient Greek word hespéra (εσπέρα) with the meaning “evening star”, but in an other way figuratively defines the fabulous far West, the world full of promises and opportunities. The band's repertoire tries to cover most of the periods of the famous urban musical genre and style, rebetiko, on the other hand mainly includes melodies with traditional and folk music background.
