Luca Aza Soundscapes 💿 Atmospheric ambient & downtempo artist
đŸŽ¶ Live acts with evolving soundscapes
✹ Done for Now — album out Oct 9.

For me, electronic music is an inner voice — I hear it within, and it longs to emerge. I cherish its slowness, the way it can slow down the world around us. I believe this is something we deeply need today. Each live act is unpredictable: when another artist or instrument steps in, genres dissolve, and a new soundscape is born right there in the moment.

This was a first for me: I created ambient fully live — no backing track, just biofeedback synth, loops, voice, and flute (and a lot of tricks in my pocket I learned along the way 🙏 )
It was a magical feeling. At several points I caught myself drifting so deeply into the sound that I completely lost track of where I was. So miraculous, so rare I'm filled with gratitude for that experience.

This happened at Atno, during the third edition of a charity auction of unique, single-edition vinyl records, organized by Dióbél Kiadó to support venues that have been forced to close.
(During the set, I also played a piece that had already been featured on one of the auctioned records.)

The audio in this video only captures a fragment of how it sounded and felt in the room, but the experience itself was so defining that I still wanted to share it.

Thank you for Kovács Balázs and Rei Szinok for their work and for having me, and for creating a space where music can exist like this. ✹
Also huge thanks for the soundengineer who had the most supportive vibe.

AlkotĂłink bemutatĂĄsa - Luca Aza Soundscapes

Budakeszin Ă©lek, multidiszciplinĂĄris mƱvĂ©sz vagyok. Jelenleg a Flock Project-tel csinĂĄlok vertikĂĄlis tĂĄnc elƑadĂĄsokat, amiknek a zenei Ă©s a mozgĂĄs rĂ©szĂ©ben is alkotok. FƑleg downtempo Ă©s ambient zenĂ©kkel foglalkoztam eddig, most Ă©pp a fonetika Ă©s a zene viszonya Ă©s a biofeedback Ă©rdekel a legjobban.

Elkezdtem egy megtĂ©pĂĄzott nƑi jogokra reflektĂĄlĂł sorozatot, ez a mĂĄsodik zene a sorban. MolnĂĄr Anna balladĂĄja egy lĂ©tezƑ nĂ©pi ballada, rengeteg feldolgozĂĄsa van Ă©s tĂĄjegysĂ©genkĂ©nt vĂĄltozĂł befejezĂ©se. Anna törtĂ©nete simĂĄn megtörtĂ©nik ma is, bĂĄrmelyik befejezĂ©sben.

You can actually bid on a vinyl at Dióbél Kiadó that features my music. And not just any release
one that isn’t available anywhere else yet.

All proceeds go to support venues that have been shut down.

There’s also going to be a live celebration on the 19th at Atno. I’ll be bringing a set too, so place your bids and then come celebrate with us 🩄

There’s a beautiful initiative out there supporting venues that have been temporarily shut down without any reasonable cause.

The first five records are already out — you can explore the music and place your bids here:
https://elmulato.diobelkiado.hu/

More releases are on the way, and I’ll also appear on one of them with an unreleased track that’s very close to my heart.

Huge thanks to DiĂłbĂ©l KiadĂł for the incredible amount of work — it feels good not to just stand by and watch the madness unfolding around us.

I had a social media cleansing recently. Partially because we moved, but mostly because I got fed up and wanted to distance myself from this non-reality.
But things happened in the meantime, and I'd like to share some special adventures with you.

Back in December, at INspirĂĄl Cirkuszközpont, the One Two Many Collective shared their new geodesic dome for circus folks to try out. They asked us to create the background music with JĂĄnos VĂĄzsonyi and so we did. And boy, was it fun! On top of the fact that this was the debut of my new equipment (which I'm still quite fond of), seeing people go deep into play mode, held by the music, was just fantastic, mesmerizing, and so touching at the same time. We all traveled together with the sound and the dome and the game. That’s what life is all about.

I'm grateful.
(Also how cool is that three men high!)

Can you play absolutely carefree without expectations?
I accidentally did that recently. And I wanted to share it, in case it makes you curious to play too — and maybe talk about it.
For a wedding anniversary, I collected all the moments where the word “love” appears in Beatles songs.
The process pulled me so deeply into play that it turned into an instrument:
a love piano, where each key is a single Beatles “love” sample.

I genuinely enjoyed the process, and somehow the mindset of goals and expectations disappeared and I got completely lost in playing.
I discovered unexpected things along the way — about the Beatles, and about myself.

If you feel like playing, I put the link int the comments. And if you do, please tell me about it! I’m more than curious how it felt for you.

(The photo is absolutely out of context, it happened a few years back when Omer Klein played in Hungary and I played a fan girl. Hope they're coming back soon.)

On the night of the winter solstice, when the dark pauses and the light quietly considers returning, Ableton and I finally met in the center of the room.

For days we had been circling each other like stubborn spirits. But Ableton arrived with reinforcements. A brand new (second hand) controller. A freshly awakened (also second hand) audio interface. They stood there gleaming, clearly overpowered, humming with unused potential.

So we declared a truce.

The cables lay around us like ceremonial vines. The computer flickered like a nervous hearth fire. Each device took its place in the ritual. The controller promised touch. The interface promised clarity. Ableton, robed in menus and shortcuts, promised infinite possibility and mild chaos.

Together we acknowledged a simple truth. This sacred setup can turn a one-person show into a one-person sh*tshow in a heartbeat.
We laughed. We accepted it. The longest night approved.

As the solstice clock ticked forward, Ableton leaned in and whispered of mappings yet to be drawn, of k***s waiting to be named.

Tomorrow, the light returns.
Tomorrow, MIDI mapping begins. đŸŽ›ïžâœš

Wishing you all a wonderful winter solstice, whatever you call it.” ✹

A lot has been happening, and for a moment I was pulled away from music by Christmas gigs.
(AKA: life across multiple art forms.)

In the meantime, I went down to PĂ©cs, because the wonderful University of PĂ©cs opened JĂĄnos Bali’s music theory course to external participants as well. So for three days I woke up and went to sleep with music theory. (Thanks to AngĂ©la Thiesz for her generous hospitality and PĂ©ter ÁdĂĄm for the heads up and KovĂĄcs BalĂĄzs for opening the doors of the course.)
So much so that, despite meeting many inspiring and lovely people, this is the only photo I managed to take while I was there. (Very cool tiles at the art department.)

The course exceeded all expectations. It offered an incredibly valuable global perspective and set off avalanches of information, enthusiasm, and motivation in my mind.

So much so that the night after the course, already back in my own bed, I dreamed that the Renaissance and the Baroque were old acquaintances. AND the Baroque was sinking into an ever deeper lethargy, which the Renaissance watched with concern but complete helplessness. One day the Baroque decided that from then on it would only move downward — so long and so deeply that it became entirely weakened and could no longer return. And no one heard its cry, because that depth was already beyond the range of human hearing.

More news soon. Thank you for riding along with me on this rollercoaster called art (or life?). Buckle up! 🎱✹

I’ve just uploaded a few new behind-the-scenes notes and little updates to my Ko-fi — if you’re curious about what I’m working on these days, you’re warmly invited to take a look around.

Ko-fi has become a small home for the things I don’t always share elsewhere: process, thoughts, small experiments, seeds of future projects.
If any of this speaks to you, and you’d like to support my work, you can do so with the equivalent of a coffee. đŸ€

I’m currently saving up for a new laptop — my old one is completely full and slowing down, and I’d love to have a tool that can actually keep up with the new music and performance projects I’m developing.

Thank you for being here, for listening, watching, reading — and for cheering on this strange, beautiful creative path.
It means the world. 🌿✹
