A MOME Anim diploma film is competing at Berlinale!

Feiner Janka’s Fire in My Pocket has been selected for the Generation Kplus Competition at the Berlinale! 🐞🔥

The diploma film, created through a unique combination of stop-motion and digital animation, will have its Hungarian premiere this Saturday at Friss Kakas, in the Diploma Premiere section.

PROGRAMAJÁNLÓ: Alice Saey masterclass
Alice Saey grafikus és animációs rendező, aki Párizsban és Rotterdamban dolgozik, munkáiban a költői és grafikus elbeszélésmódokra fókuszálva ötvözi a design és a film világát. Animációkat készített többek között a She’s Young, Happy és Careful című klipekhez, valamint dolgozott olyan ügyfeleknek, mint az Arte, a Centre Pompidou és a Kiblind,emellett 20 m² falfestményt készített a párizsi La Courneuve – Six Routes metróállomáson. 2025-ben új rövidfilm fejlesztésébe kezdett a MacDowell ösztöndíj keretében.

Alice Saey is a graphic designer and animation director working in Paris and Rotterdam. In her projects, she combines the worlds of design and film by focusing on poetic and graphic storytelling approaches. She has created animations for music videos such as She’s Young, Happy, and Careful, and has worked for clients including Arte, Centre Pompidou, and Kiblind. In addition, she completed a large-scale, 20 m² mural at the La Courneuve – Six Routes metro station in Paris. In 2025, she began developing a new short film as part of the MacDowell Fellowship.

PROGRAMAJÁNLÓ: MOME Diploma

A legfrissebb MOME Anim diplomafilmek most először láthatók nagyvásznon! A 2025-ben végzett évfolyam júniusban mutatta be sokszínű és változatos filmes, immerzív és egyéb projektjeit. Ezek közül most nyolc rövidfilm premiervetítésére kerül sor, amelyek témájukban és megvalósításukban egyaránt rendkívül sokfélék: stop motion, 3D, papírkivágásos és 2D technikával készült alkotások is szerepelnek a programban, betekintést adva abba a sokrétű műhelymunkába, amely hosszú évek óta meghatározza az egyetemet.
Egy kép többet mond ezer szónál, a mozgókép pedig végképp önmagáért beszél – engedjük hát, hogy a filmek beszéljenek helyettünk.

The latest MOME Animation diploma films will be shown on the big screen for the very first time!

The class graduating in 2025 presented its diverse and multifaceted film, immersive, and other projects this June. From these works, eight short films have been selected for their premiere screenings.
The films are remarkably varied both in theme and in ex*****on, featuring stop motion, 3D, paper cut-out, and 2D animation techniques. Together, they offer insight into the rich and complex workshop culture that has defined the university for many years.
A single image can say more than a thousand words, and moving images speak even more powerfully for themselves—so let the films do the talking.

PROGRAMAJÁNLÓ: Iskolák a határon. A MOME Anim partneriskoláinak filmjei.
Üdv a barátoktól - partneriskolák diplomafilmjei
(Greetings from Friends - graduation shorts from partner schools)

Azt is írhattuk volna, hogy a “konkurenseinktől”, hiszen olyan iskolák nemzetközi fesztiválpremieren bemutatott diplomafilmjeiből válogattunk, akikkel rendszeresen versengenek a MOME rövidfilmjei, sokfelé a világban, és ők is elcsábíthatják mester szakjaikra a legtehetségesebb hallgatókat. Mi még is inkább barátkozunk, mert figyeljük és tiszteljük egymás munkáját, kölcsönösen inspirálódunk, megosztjuk a tapasztalatokat és közös projektekben gondolkodunk. Mert egy nyelvet beszélünk, az animációét, egy nyitott és barátságos közösség vagyunk, legyen akármennyire is eltérő a kulturális és társadalmi közeg! Ugyanakkor jó összevetni a MOME diplomafilmjeit a karrierjüket ugyanígy megkezdő fiatal nemzetközi alkotók munkáival!

Ez a színes válogatás tehát olyan friss diplomaprojektekből állt össze, a szomszédos országoktól a Távol-Keletig, a báb animációtól az experimentális és immerzív filmig, amit mind a barátaink küldtek el, üdvözlettel a FrissKakas nézőinek.

Schools Across Borders. Films from MOME Animation’s Partner Schools
Greetings from Friends – graduation shorts from partner schools

We could have called this program “from our competitors,” since the selection features graduation films from schools whose works regularly compete with MOME short films at international festival premieres around the world—and which might also attract the most talented students to their MA programs. But we prefer to make friends. We follow and respect each other’s work, inspire one another, share experiences, and think in terms of joint projects. Because we speak the same language—the language of animation—and form an open and friendly community, no matter how different our cultural and social contexts may be. At the same time, it’s exciting to compare MOME graduation films with the works of young international creators who are starting their careers in the same way.

This colorful selection is therefore made up of fresh graduation projects—from neighboring countries to the Far East, from puppet animation to experimental and immersive films—all sent by our friends as greetings to the audience of FrissKakas.

A magyar animációs videoklipek új virágkorukat élik, az utóbbi években markáns vizuális identitást teremtve számos zenekarnak: sokszor kísérletezőek, és a zenekarok világát látványos, olykor szürreális képi univerzumokkal gazdagítják. A hazai animációs klipkultúra ereje éppen ebben a szabadságban rejlik: teret ad a kreatív vizuális történetmesélésnek, miközben játékosan ötvözi a popkultúra és a képzőművészet eszközeit.

The strength of Hungarian animated music video culture lies precisely in this freedom: it provides space for creative visual storytelling while playfully combining the tools of pop culture and fine art.

PROGRAMAJÁNLÓ: Pom-Pomon és a Nagy ho-hón túl – Sajdik Ferenc életművei

Sajdik Ferenc karikatúra-grafikus a magyar animációs filmeken keresztül igencsak komoly (avagy komolytalan) hatással volt ránk, hétköznapi emberekre. A sohasemvolt állatkák és bolondos emberkék rajzolójaként az ő keze alól kerültek ki a magyar animáció olyan máig népszerű rajzfilmjei, mint a Dargay Attila rendezte Pom-Pom vagy A nagy ho-ho-ho-horgász.
Mindezeken felül megtaláljuk a legsikeresebb magyar animációs alkotások munkatársai között is, mit az Arany Pálma-díjas Moto perpetuo. Az alábbi ismert és kevésbé ismert rövidfilmekben, amelyek a magyar animáció aranykorában születtek, a Sajdikra jellemző gyermekien ártatlan rajzokon keresztül mégis keserű életigazságok fogalmazódnak meg.

Beyond Pom-Pom and the Great Ho-Ho-Ho – The Works of Ferenc Sajdik

Ferenc Sajdik, caricaturist and graphic artist, has had a remarkably serious (or perhaps not so serious) influence on us everyday people through Hungarian animated films. As the creator of imaginary creatures and whimsical human figures, some of the most popular Hungarian animated cartoons to this day were born from his hand, such as Pom-Pom and The Great Ho-Ho-Ho Fisherman, both directed by Attila Dargay.
In addition, Sajdik can also be found among the contributors to some of the most successful Hungarian animated works, including the Palme d’Or–winning Moto perpetuo. In the following well-known and lesser-known short films, created during the golden age of Hungarian animation, bitter truths about life are nevertheless expressed through Sajdik’s characteristically childlike and innocent drawings.
