🎧 Minden helynek megvannak a saját hangjai.

👉 A hozzájárulásod fontos hangjegy ebben a közös kottában!

MEET YOUR FACULTY! 🖐
We're almost there! Music as Heritage at CEU Summer University is starting next Monday!
Who will all be guiding you through the intersections of artistic, social and political aspects of this year's topic? Here's a short introduction!

Her book From Gypsy to Bohemian: A Study of the Musical Rhapsody (2021) received the prestigious Alan Walker Book Award in 2024.
🔹Angéla Kóczé - is sociologist and Chair of Romani Studies at Central European University. Her work explores the intersections of race, gender, class and social justice, with a particular focus on Romani communities in Europe. Combining academic research with public engagement and policy work, she has published extensively on Romani identity, social movements, intersectionality, and cultural politics. MEET YOUR FACULTY! 🖐
Our Music as Heritage Summer Course at CEU Summer University starts next week with a new topic; Roma culture and heritage.
Who will all be guiding you through the intersections of artistic, social and political aspects of this year's topic? Here's a short introduction!

🔹Balázs Weyer - is an ethnomusicologist and programming director of Hangvető, a world music production company in Hungary and the larger region. He is curating several festivals, including Budapest Ritmo. He’s also a producer and music consultant of movie and TV soundtracks, a documentary maker, a music journalist and the chairman of Music Hungary, the music industry association of his homeland. He is a European Capitals of Culture consultant for cities on cultural development projects.

🔹 Petr Nuska - is a visual ethnomusicologist – an interdisciplinary researcher working at the intersections of anthropology, visual studies and music studies. He completed a PhD in Ethnomusicology and Visual Culture at Durham University (2022) concerning the musicianship of Roma in Slovakia. He is a passionate ethnographic and documentary filmmaker whose work has been screened at festivals around the world. When he’s not researching it, he likes to make music.

🔹Svanibor Pettan - He is an ethnomusicologist with research interests in music on a war-peace continuum, multiculturalism, music and gender, music and minorities, and applied ethnomusicology. His intense fieldwork, during which I lived in a Romani community in Prizren, Kosovo, was followed by the violent dissolution of what was Yugoslavia and by my longue durée research throughout the decades under the new, dynamic circumstances. The resulting publications in different formats aim to contribute to a better understanding of people affected by romanticized ethnic stereotypes and diverse, often discriminating, life realities.

☀️The summertime is usually, about nostalgia at Hangvető and there's a lot to remember this year as well.

In April, in partnership with Bartók Spring International Arts Weeks and presented by Müpa Budapest we hosted the 13th edition of Classical:NEXT in Budapest for the first time. A thousand delegates from 54 countries took part in a week filled with sunshine and high hopes for the future, not just for classical music, but for the world in which it also exists.

Thank you to our partners and our guests for a wonderful week!
