And all we can say about last evening's interview with Ádám Nádasdy is wow! Just wow! Thank you to Ádám, Christopher Whyte (his translator), Gretchen (for doing the interview) and especially to all those who came along to listen. The poems were beautiful, disturbing, fascinating, and a host of other adjectives too long to list, and it was so interesting to hear about the process of translation from Ádám and Christopher. And, of course, we were treated to Ádám's sparkling wit in response to Gretchen's penetrating questions.

Events in October! Each of them is an interview with someone about their work and life and will include wine and finger-food, as always, and an opportunity to ask questions and chat to the guests. Tickets can be reserved by emailing [email protected]

1. 3rd October: An interview with Wayne Brett, a film maker, with a showing of his short black and white film - a remake of a film that his great grandfather made in 1913.

2. 17th October: An interview with Mary Murphy, a writer, with a performance of her interpretation of a Dorothy Parker piece.

3. 24th October: An interview with Nádasdy Ádám, linguist and poet, with readings of his poems in Hungarian and in English translation

We are showing it again on 3rd October, along with an interview with Wayne and a chance to ask him questions. As always, wine and canapes included in the ticket price. Tickets available by email request only, as per event post.

We are offering two free tickets to Erkel Ferenc's opera "István Király" - being performed on 20th August on Margit Sziget. To win the tickets all you have to do is send a message to this page explaining in fewer than 15 words why this is an important opera. The winner will be the person who we think sends the most interesting reason.

The deadline is midnight today, Saturday, and we will email the electronic tickets to the winner. (Don't forget to include an email address!)

An interview with Nádasdy Ádám, with readings of his poems in Hungarian and English.

The fabulous Mary Murphy will be giving us her unique take on Dorothy Parker (twice: once as a brunch event and once as an evening event).

The premier of a new short silent film by Wayne Brett.

A wine-tasting, with a talk about wines and their production from a well-known wine-maker (and an opportunity to sign up for a visit to where the wine is made - for more tasting...)
