2022. alkalommal rendezzük meg a kiállítást és a hozzákapcsolódó eseménysorozatot. Az eltelt évek alatt az intézményi háttér nélkül megrendezett projekt hatalmas fejlődésen ment keresztül, és a régió egyik legjelentősebb dizájn- és összművészeti eseményévé vált. A kezdeményezés a műfajok és a te
matikák közötti átjárhatóságot állítja fókuszba, elnevezése a nemzetköziségére, a régiós párbeszédre, az európai összetartozásra és az egyes művészeti ágak egymásra hatására reflektál. A szervezők kifejezett szándéka, hogy bemutassák a dizájn tágan vett értelmezési lehetőségeit: a fogalmat kiszélesítve a kreatív szemléletet, az innovációt helyezik a középpontba. A korábbi évek gyakorlatának megfelelően a bemutatott alkotások, projektek, tárgyak a legkülönfélébb területeket – a dizájnt, a képzőművészetet, a formatervezést, a vizuális művészeteket és az előadóművészetet – kapcsolják össze.
2022-ben összesen 24 ország 214 alkotójának munkái szerepelnek a kiállításon. A sorozatban gyártott darabok mellett kis szériában készülő bútorok és kiegészítők, prototípusok, sőt kísérleti darabok is helyet kaptak, mi több, a dizájn és a képzőművészet határán elhelyezkedő egyedi munkákkal, tárgy- és anyagkísérletekkel és képzőművészeti alkotásokkal is találkozhat a látogató. A meghívottak közül sokan olyan aktuális társadalmi és ökológiai kérdésekkel foglalkoznak, mint a fenntarthatóság vagy a szociális felelősség. A válogatásban különböző generációk munkái szerepelnek, a huszonéves egyetemi hallgatóktól a pályakezdőkön át a meghatározó, nemzetközileg is elismert, középgenerációs dizájnerekig és a kilencvenes éveikben járó érett művészekig. A kiállítás középpontjában a régiós tervezők bemutatásán túl a finn formatervezés áll. A válogatás átfogó képet nyújt a finn dizájn nemzetközi szinten is meghatározó szerepéről, az egyedi szemléletű finn dizájnoktatásról, ezen belül a fenntarthatóság fontosságáról, valamint a finn kultúrára jellemző nyitottságról, befogadókészségről és kreativitásról. A válogatásban a dizájn különféle területein jelen lévő és különböző generációkhoz tartozó alkotók mellett progresszív, a globális piacon is sikeres finn márkák is helyet kapnak, a főszerepben Alvar Aalto és az Aalto Egyetem Dizájn és Építész Tanszéke hallgatóinak munkáival. A Határtalan design minden évben reflektál a fontos szakmai eseményekre, így idén Az Üveg Nemzetközi Évéhez kapcsolódóan egy reprezentatív válogatás látható. Az emeleti, állandó kiállítóterekben Lukáš Jabůrek cseh üvegművész önálló kiállítása és a Kiscelli Múzeum gyűjteményében található üvegtárgyakból álló szelekció kapott helyet. A Budapest Design Week idei mottójához – „Találkozások terei – építészet és design” – csatlakozva többek között az építészet és a dizájn határterületén alkotó holland Kas Oosterhuis munkái láthatók. A kortárs ékszertervezőket bemutató sorozat keretében széles körű nemzetközi és magyar válogatást mutatunk be, melynek keretében 2022-ben a milánói Istituto Europeo di Design Ékszer Tanszéke művész-tanárainak és hallgatóinak ékszereit, a Legnica Jewellery Festival SILVER díjnyerteseinek munkáit, a KHiO – Oslo National Academy of the Arts, a plzeňi LSFDA, a MOME, a VŠVU/AFAD Studio S+M+L_XL – METAL AND JEWEL válogatását láthatja a közönség. Külön egységet alkotnak a művészeti egyetemek hallgatóinak munkái, melynek keretében az ASP Academy of Fine Arts Władysław Strzemiński, az EKA Estonian Academy of Arts – Design Tanszék, az LSFDA Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art of the University of West Bohemia, a MOME MoholyNagy Művészeti Egyetem Design Tanszékének és Építész Tanszékének, a VŠVU/AFAD Academy of Fine Arts and Design Bratislava, a TUZVO Technical University in Zvolen és az UAD University of Art and Design of Cluj-Napoca (UAD) hallgatóinak munkáit mutatjuk be. A szervezők nem titkolt szándéka a dizájn szélesebb kontextusba helyezése, a különböző művészeti ágak alkotóinak összekapcsolása. Immár második éve vesznek részt a kiállításon képzőművészek. A Hermina Alkotócsoport művészeinek munkáival az Oratórium terében találkozhatnak. Szervesen kapcsolódik a kiállításhoz a 2014-ben Szigeti Szilvia textiltervező kezdeményezte, TEXHIBITION című projekt, amely a gyártók és a tervezők egymásra találását, együttműködését hivatott elősegíteni. Az idei fejlesztések közül 19 dizájner munkái kaptak helyet, amelyek kivitelezésében az Aste Bútorszövet és lakástextil, a Meritum Kft., a Lénárd Kft. és a litván MUZE textilnyomó cég vett részt. Mindketten a Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetemen végeztek, a stuttgarti Akademie Schloss Solitude ösztöndíjasai voltak. Szigeti Szilvia 2012 és 2020 között a stuttgarti Akademie Schloss Solitude kuratóriumának tagja volt. Tervezői munkájuk során több hazai és nemzetközi kiállításon vettek részt, emellett tevékenységüket jó néhány szakmai elismeréssel jutalmazták. Többek között elnyerték a Kozma Lajos Kézműves Iparművészeti Ösztöndíjat, a Magyar Formatervezési Díjat, a Design Management Díjat és a Ferenczy Noémi-díjat. 1994-ben közösen alapították az Unikát Összművészeti Stúdió Bt.-t és az Eventuell Galériát, s a kreatív műhelyben szervezett kiállításokon túl közel 200 magyar és nemzetközi esemény szervezése fűződik a nevükhöz (a 90-es évek Textivál textil- és divatszínházai a Szabad Tér Színházban és a Műcsarnokban, a BútoroSOKK avantgárd bútortervezőket bemutató tárlat az Iparművészeti Múzeumban). 2004 óta szervezik közösen a magyar dizájnerekre fókuszáló madeinhungaryt, 2012 óta pedig a nemzetközi alkotókra koncentráló MeeD, illetve 2014 óta a Határtalan design / Design without borders kiállításokat és összművészeti rendezvénysorozatot. 10 October 2021 – 28 November 2021. This year sees the 18th Design Without Borders exhibition and related event series. During the years past, the project – organised without any institutional background – has undergone enormous development and has become one of the region’s most significant design and all-arts events. The initiative focuses on interoperability between genres and themes. Its name reflects its internationality, regional dialogue, European unity and the influence of individual art forms on each other. The organisers’ express intention is to present the broad interpretation possibilities of design: by broadening the concept, they focus on the creative approach and innovation. In accordance with the practice of previous years, the presented works, projects, and objects combine the most diverse fields – design, visual arts, fine art and performing arts. In 2022 the works of a total of 214 artists from 24 countries are exhibited. In addition to series-produced pieces, small-batch series of furniture and accessories, prototypes, and even experimental pieces are included too. What's more, visitors can also find one-off works, object / material experiments and artworks on the borderline between design and fine art. Many invited artists deal with current social and ecological issues such as sustainability or social responsibility. The selection includes the works of different generations, from university students in their twenties to career-starters, through defining, internationally recognized mid-generation designers to mature artists in their nineties. In addition to the presentation of regional designers, the focus of the exhibition is on Finnish design. The selection provides a comprehensive picture of the internationally defining role of Finnish design, of Finnish design education with its unique approach, including the importance of sustainability, as well as the openness, receptiveness and creativity that characterises Finnish culture. In addition to artists active in various fields of design and belonging to different generations, the selection includes globally successful progressive Finnish brands in the form of works by Alvar Aalto and by the students of Aalto University’s Department of Design and Architecture as the highlights. Each year, Design Without Borders reflects on important professional events, so this year a representative selection related to the International Year of Glass is showcased. A solo exhibition by Czech glass artist Lukáš Jabůrek and a selection of glass objects from the Kiscelli Museum’s collection are exhibited in the upstairs permanent exhibition spaces. In line with this year's motto of the Budapest Design Week – "Meeting Spaces – Architecture and Design" – the exhibit includes among others the works of Dutch artist Kas Oosterhuis, whose creations are on the border between architecture and design. As part of the series presenting contemporary jewellery designers, we showcase a wide international and Hungarian selection. This year includes the jewellery of the artist-teachers and students of the Department of Jewellery of the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan, the works of the SILVER prize winners of the Legnica Jewellery Festival, as well as the selections of the KHiO – Oslo National Academy of the Arts, the LSFDA in Plzeň, MOME, and the VŠVU/AFAD Studio S+M+L_XL – METAL AND JEWEL. The works of art university students form a separate unit; this includes works by students from the ASP Academy of Fine Arts Władysław Strzemiński, the EKA Estonian Academy of Arts – Faculty of Design, the LSFDA Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art of the University of West Bohemia, MOME Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design’s Department of Design and Department of Architecture, the VŠVU/AFAD Academy of Fine Arts and Design Bratislava, TUZVO Technical University in Zvolen, and the University of Art and Design of Cluj-Napoca (UAD). The organisers openly intend to place design in a wider context and to connect creators of different art forms. This is the second year that visual artists participate in the exhibition. The works of the artists of the Hermina Artist Collective are exhibited in the Oratory space. Organically linked to the exhibition is the TEXHIBITION project, initiated in 2014 by textile designer Szilvia Szigeti. It is intended to promote the meeting and cooperation of manufacturers and designers. This year's developments include the works of 19 designers, which were manufactured by Aste Bútorszövet és lakástextil, Meritum Kft., Lénárd Kft. and Lithuanian textile printing company MUZE. The founding curators of the exhibition are interior designer Tamás Radnóti and Ferenczy Noémi Award laureate textile designer Szilvia Szigeti. Both graduated from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design and were fellows at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart. Szigeti was a member of the board of trustees of the Akademie Schloss Solitude between 2012 and 2020. During the course of their career as designers they participated in several domestic and international exhibitions and their activities received numerous professional awards. Among others, they won the Lajos Kozma Scholarship for Applied Arts and Crafts, the Hungarian Design Award, the Design Management Award and the Ferenczy Noémi Award. They jointly established Unikát Összművészeti Stúdió Bt. and the Eventuell Gallery in 1994; and besides the exhibitions organised in this creative workshop, they have organised nearly 200 Hungarian and international events (Textivál's textile and fashion theatres in the 90s at the Szabad Tér Theatre and in the Budapest Kunsthalle; the BútoroSOKK exhibition presenting avant-garde furniture designers in the Museum of Applied Arts). They have jointly organised madeinhungary since 2004, which focuses on Hungarian designers; MeeD since 2012, which focuses on international artists; and the Design Without Borders exhibitions and all-arts event series since 2014. Over the years they have worked with around 4,000 artists. The exhibition will be accompanied by wholesome programmes, guided tours, concerts, and film screenings.
