Jean Balukas, one of the greatest players of all time 🤩
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Jean started playing at just 4 years old. A few years later at the age of 9, she was competing in the U.S. Open Pool Championship and at 13 winning the women's division of the BCA U.S. Open Straight Pool Championship while defeating five-time champion Dorothy Wise along the way. From there, she dominated winning the U.S. Open 7 years in a row and accumulating 6 world championships plus 100 professional competition first-place finishes with 38 majors. She was the only woman to compete with men in professional play in her era and took a stand that women should not be treated differently from the men. Jean will forever be remembered as one of greatest to ever do it, breaking the glass ceiling in the sport, and as a BCA Hall of Famer 👏
