Monoplay - festival sola je festival u domeni suvremenog plesa i njegovog izričaja unutar suvremenog kazališta, a jedini je specijaliziran za predstavljanje solo izvedbe u Hrvatskoj. godine krajem kolovoza. Na taj se način iz malenog Festivala razvio u izuzetno značajno ljetno događanje na kojem se susreću stručnjaci, umjetnici, kritičari, pedagozi te mladi naraštaji plesača s publikom te kroz zajedničke festivalske dane otvaraju međusobni dijalog i razumijevanje te tako rade na sustavnom unapređenju ne samo vlastitog rada nego utječu i na razvoj zadarske a i cjelokupne domaće plesne scene. Monoplay se održava u Kazalištu lutaka Zadar, specifičnost Festivala je svakodnevno održavanje razgovora kritičara i umjetnika koji su taj dan predstavljeni na Festivalu. Kvaliteta, razvoj te unapređenje umjetničkog i organizacijskog rada iz godine u godinu se očituje sve brojnijom publikom te spajanjem s edukativnom platformom STREAM Zadar. STREAM Zadar se održava prije početka samog Monoplaya tako da posjetitelji te profesionalni plesači, ali i amateri u potpunosti mogu zaokružiti ljetno plesno zadarsko iskustvo u sklopu čega imaju priliku prisustvovati izuzetno zanimljivim radionicama renomiranih svjetskih pedagoga iz polja suvremenog plesa i izvedbenih umjetnosti, a pred kraj kolovoza posjetiti sjajne predstave koje redovito u Zadar dovodimo upravo za vas, našu publiku. Budući da su mladi naraštaji te posebnost zadarske plesne scene od velikog značaja od samog pokretanja Festivala MONOPLAY, redovito u sklopu Festivala predstavljamo radove mladih umjetnika, studenata Akademije dramske umjetnosti iz Zagreba te također predstavljamo i zadarsku plesnu scenu čiji plesači tijekom ovog događanja imaju priliku predstaviti se i publici koja dolazi iz raznih dijelova Hrvatske i Europe. Rad Zadarskog plesnog ansambla i festivala Monoplay podržan je sredstvima Zaklade Kultura nova, Ministarstva Kulture, Grada Zadra, Zadarske županije i Turističke zajednice Grada Zadra.

The Monoplay Festival is a dance festival in Croatia in the domain of contemporary dance and its expression within the contemporary theatre, and the only festival specialised in showcasing the solo performance. The international dance festival MONOPLAY has been held in Zadar in late August since 2009. Developed very spontaneously in order to help a member of the Zadar Dance Ensemble continue her education abroad, the Festival has since increased its organisational and artistic capacities. Consequently, it has developed from a small festival into an extremely significant summer event where experts, artists, critics, teachers, and young generations of dancers meet the audience, begin their dialogue and develop understanding by experiencing the Festival days together. They thus work not only on the systematic advancement of their own work, but on the development of the dance scene in Zadar and in Croatia too. Monoplay is held in the Zadar Puppet Theatre, and its peculiarity are the daily talks between the critics and the artists presented that day at the Festival. Year after year, the quality, development, and advancement of artistic and organisational work is reflected in its growing audience and its coupling with the educational platform STREAM Zadar. STREAM Zadar takes place before the beginning of Monoplay, hence visitors, professional dancers, as well as amateurs can fully round off their summer dance experience in Zadar. They have a chance to attend very interesting workshops held by the world’s renowned teachers in the field of contemporary dance and performing arts, as well as see amazing performances which we regularly bring to Zadar in late August just for you, our audience. Young generations and the specific nature of the Zadar dance scene have been very important since the foundation of the MONOPLAY Festival, therefore during the Festival we regularly present dance acts by young artists, students at the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Art, as well as Zadar-based dancers, who have a chance to present themselves at this event to the audience coming from various parts of Croatia and Europe.
