Few weeks ago, Festival uličnih čarobnjaka in Istria, Croatia, hosted a performance by the French company CIE LPM "Piti Peta Hofen Show".
The show, which has been performed over 300 times (they performed at PFF back in 2023) worldwide and received multiple international awards, sparked a media storm. Individual scenes were taken out of context, shared on social media, and used to fuel accusations that went far beyond any fair assessment of the artistic work.
In response, the festival organisers faced public condemnation, institutional distancing, and political pressure.
We believe this is a moment where we must take a stand.
That is why we have signed the Open Letter of Support – addressed to the festival organisers, venues, umbrella organisations, and everyone who believes that artistic freedom must be defended, especially when it is contested.
We are calling our colleagues to show solidarity with the festival team and their professional curatorial work. Defend the right to artistic expression without fear of censorship. And help us send a clear message that the international cultural community stands together.
