Lessac Kinesensic Training is created by Arthur Lessac, one of the most highly regarded teachers of voice, speech, singing and movement in the training world. Among the three generations of actors, singers, and dancers touched by his teaching are Martin Sheen, Beatrice Straight, George Grizzard, Faye Dunaway, Irene Daily, Carol Haney, Chris Lloyd, Michael Douglas, Frank Langella, Michael O’Keefe,
Peter Scolari, Morris Charnovsky, Linda Hunt, Nina Foch, and Catherine Malfitano. Unique in its holistic, comprehensive and creative approach to all aspects of developing the body and the voice, Lessac’s voice text teaches the “feeling process” for discovering vocal sensation in the body, for developing tonal clarity and articulation, and for better connecting to text and the rhythms of speech. Originally known to theatre professionals, actors, singers and dancers, Kinesensics has now become recognized as applicable to many endeavors in life, from voice and speech therapy and singing training to sports, fitness and well-being. Current initiatives include language acquisition and development in young children, and relations across cultures and languages. Kinesensic training is a self-teaching, sensory-based process based on feeling the way the human body functions organically when it is free of adverse conditioning. It uses physical sensations to identify, produce and voluntarily facilitate the voice and body. Lessac Kinesensic Intensive Workshop Croatia, after USA, South Africa and Brazil, is hosted for the first time in Croatia by University of Rijeka, Academy of Applied Arts and Center for Advanced Studies—South Eastern Europe. It is taught by Prof. Deborah Kinghorn (Lessac Master Teacher, University of New Hampshire, Department of Theatre and Dance), Dr. Marth Munro (Lessac Master Teacher, University of Pretoria, Drama Department) and Valentina Lončarić (Lessac Certified Trainer, University of Rijeka, Acting and Media Studies).
