Jučer smo proslavili 20. obljetnicu Godišnja izložba učenika Škole primjenjenih umjetnosti i dizajna - P**a!

Naša galerija već treću godinu zaredom ugošćuje ovu izložbu koja donosi presjek kreativnog stvaralaštva odjela tekstilnog dizajna, grafičkog dizajna, kiparstva i slikarstva. Ova obljetničko izdanje predstavlja uvid u umjetnički razvoj nove generacije umjetnika, autora i dizajnera te svjedoči o dva desetljeća predanosti umjetničkom obrazovanju unutar naše zajednice.

Izložba ostaje otvorena do 15. svibnja 2026. godine, a pozivamo vas da izložene radove razgledate tijekom radnog vremena Galerije: od ponedjeljka do srijede od 10:00 do 14:00 sati te četvrtkom i petkom od 17:00 do 20:00 sati.

We are delighted to celebrate a significant milestone with the opening of the 20th-anniversary exhibition featuring student works from the School of Applied Arts and Design P**a!

For the third time, our gallery has the privilege of hosting this vibrant showcase, which officially opened yesterday. The exhibition brings together a diverse range of artistic explorations from the departments of textile design, graphic design, sculpture, and painting, offering an insightful look into the creative development of the next generation of artists and designers.

This anniversary edition highlights two decades of dedication to artistic education and remains a warm testament to the talent within our local community. The exhibition will remain open until May 15th, 2026, and we invite you to visit and experience these works during our gallery hours: Monday - Wednesday from 10:00 to 14:00, and Thursday - Friday from 17:00 to 20:00.

Danas smo ugostili studente prve godine prijediplomskog studija DAK - Studij Dizajn i audiovizualne komunikacije pri Sveučilištu Jurja Dobrile u Puli koji su, u sklopu kolegija Praktikum terenske produkcije zvuka pod vodstvom Branka Škare, sudjelovali u radionici galerijskog zvuka gdje su savladavali osnove DJ prakse.

Today we hosted first-year undergraduate students of design and audiovisual communications at the Juraj Dobrila University in P**a, who, as part of the Field Sound Production Practicum course led by Branko Škara, participated in a gallery sound workshop where they mastered the basics of DJ practice.

Jučer smo otvorili samostalnu izložbu Jelena Bogdanić: Vending Machine uz razgovor s umjetnicom!

Izložbu čini interaktivna readymade instalacija u obliku funkcionalnog samoposlužnog aparata koji, umjesto uobičajenih proizvoda, nudi minijaturne kiparske studije izrađene u 3D ispisu. Iako su same figure primarni predmet izlaganja, rad svoj puni smisao doseže tek gestom kupnje. Interakcijom sa strojem, posjetitelj prestaje biti promatračem i postaje aktivnim sudionikom umjetničkog događaja, čime čin kupnje postaje ključni dio rada.

Otvorenje je popraćeno i razgovorom s umjetnicom u kojemu su otvorena pitanja vrijednosti umjetničkog rada, konzumerizma i demokratizacije umjetnosti. Središnja tema razgovora bila je transformacija galerijskog prostora u mjesto automatizirane konzumacije, gdje posjetitelj prestaje biti promatračem i postaje aktivnim sudionikom-konzumentom. Kroz seriju pitanja moderatorice Marijete Bradić i publike, otvorila se rasprava o devalvaciji umjetničkog rada u suvremenom društvu, te propitivao kontrast između umjetnicinog dugotrajnog procesa ručnog oblikovanja kiparskih studija i ubrzane mehanike prodajnog automata. Razgovor je zaključio kako Vending Machine nije samo prodajni aparat, nego i dijagnostički alat koji zrcali našu potrebu za brzom satisfakcijom, brišući granicu između unikatnog umjetničkog djela i masovnog proizvoda.

Yesterday, we opened the solo exhibition Vending Machine by Jelena Bogdanić, accompanied by the artist talk!

The exhibition consists of an interactive readymade installation in the form of a functional vending machine which, instead of standard products, offers miniature sculptural studies created through 3D printing. Although the figures themselves are the primary objects of the display, the work reaches its full meaning only through the gesture of purchase. By interacting with the machine, the visitor ceases to be a mere observer and becomes an active participant in the artistic event, making the act of buying a key component of the work.

The opening was accompanied by a talk with the artist that addressed questions regarding the value of artistic labor, consumerism, and the democratization of art. The central theme of the discussion was the transformation of the gallery space into a site of automated consumption, where the visitor shifts from a spectator to an active participant-consumer. Through a series of questions from moderator Marijeta Bradić and the audience, a discussion opened up about the devaluation of artistic labor in contemporary society, questioning the contrast between the artist's long process of manual modeling and the accelerated mechanics of the vending machine. The talk concluded that Vending Machine is not just a sales device, but a diagnostic tool that mirrors our need for instant gratification, blurring the line between a unique work of art and a mass-produced commodity.

U subotu, 14. ožujka 2026. održala se plesna predstava On words, chairs and everything you might read into, Umjetničke organizacije Os i Matee Bilosnić, u suradnji s izvođačicama Natašom Kustura, Kristinom Lisica i Silvijom Musić.

Rad balansira između izvedbenog predavanja, plesne predstave i instalacije i traži svoj konačan oblik dok traje. Predlaže, gradi i uspostavlja, a potom mijenja, ruši i odbija formu. Između predmeta, pokreta i riječi, autorice uspostavljaju vlastiti jezik Izvedbe. Stolice kao rekvizit svakodnevice mijenjaju funkciju i postaju nestalan element izvedbe, poput riječi. Sadržaj izvire iz međusobnog odnosa izvođačica, riječi i predmeta te poziva publiku da vlastitom imaginacijom nadopuni izvedbu.

On Saturday, March 14, 2026, Novo Gallery hosted the dance performance On words, chairs, and everything you might read into by the oS Art Organization and Matea Bilosnić, in collaboration with performers Nataša Kustura, Kristina Lisica, and Silvija Musić.

The work balances between a lecture-performance, a dance piece, and an installation, seeking its final form as it unfolds. It proposes, builds, and establishes, only to later shift, deconstruct, and reject form altogether. Between objects, movement, and words, the authors establish their own performance language. Chairs, as everyday props, shift their function and become volatile elements of the performance, much like words themselves. The content emerges from the relationship between the performers, the words, and the objects, inviting the audience to complete the performance through their own imagination.

Prošlog smo petka u Galeriji Novo otvorili izložbu Speculative Kitchens. Izložba je rezultat petodnevne međunarodne radionice spekulativne dizajnerske prakse u organizaciji udruge Metamedij, pod vodstvom umjetnica, kustosica i istraživačica Laura Elidedt Rodríguez i Darie Testo.

Kombinirajući metode spekulativnog dizajna, laboratorijske pokuse te tradicionalna i lokalna znanja o biljkama i kuhanju, polaznici su razvijali spekulativne prototipove koje su javno prezentirali publici na dan otvorenja. Autori radova su studenti, umjetnici i aktivisti iz Nizozemske, Njemačke, Slovenije, Poljske i Hrvatske: Geraldine Santillana Armas, Nabil Almanssour, Kristina Suryani, Ivan Đukez, nat skoczylas, Laila Kasumagić, Marta Matulić, Milica Denković, Nik Esmeijer, Zara Esra Salomé Visser, Eline Flick i Adam Tuna.

Last Friday, Novo Gallery hosted the opening of the exhibition "Speculative Kitchens." The showcase is the result of a five-day international speculative design workshop organized by the Metamedij Association and led by artists, curators, and researchers Laura Rodriguez and Daria Testo.

By merging speculative design methods and laboratory experiments with traditional and local knowledge of plants and cooking, the participants developed speculative prototypes, which they presented to the public on the opening day. The authors of the works are students, artists, and activists from the Netherlands, Germany, Slovenia, Poland, and Croatia: Geraldine Santillana Armas, Nabil Almanssour, Kristina Suryani, Ivan Đukez, nat skoczylas, Laila Kasumagić, Marta Matulić, Milica Denković, Nik Esmeijer, Zara Esra Salomé Visser, Eline Flick, and Adam Tuna.

Sinoć smo službeno otvorili izložbu (Ne)moguće budućnosti!

Izložba je rezultat suradničkog procesa studenata DAK - Studij Dizajn i audiovizualne komunikacije Sveučilišta Jurja Dobrile u Puli,
koji su istražili spekulativne svjetove pod mentorstvom profesora Alena Floričića i Denisa Sardoza.

Večer je obilježilo vodstvo po izložbi tijekom kojeg su studenti prezentirali svoje grupne radove, dijeleći s posjetiteljima svoje ideje i kreativne procese koji stoje u pozadini svakog rada. Hvala svima koji su nam se sinoć pridružili!

Last night we officially opened “(Im)possible Futures” at Novo Gallery!

This exhibition is the result of a collaborative effort by students of from the .hr , who explored speculative worlds under the mentorship of Alen Floričić and Denis Sardoz.

The highlight of the evening was the guided tour, where the student authors presented their group works, sharing the visions and creative processes behind each piece. Huge thanks to everyone who joined us for this journey into the unknown!

The exhibition is on view until February 25.

Proveli smo razgovor s interdisciplinarnim umjetnicama Laurom Rodriguez i Dariom Testo povodom nadolazeće radionice ''Spekulativne kuhinje'' koja će se održati početkom ožujka u galeriji Novo u Puli, u organizaciji udruge Metamedij.

U intervjuu za portal Kulturistra.hr, Laura i Daria govore o svojim istraživačkim i kustoskim praksama koje povezuju suvremenu znanost, umjetnost i autohtona znanja. Razgovarali smo o dekolonijalnim perspektivama, odnosu prema više-nego-ljudskom svijetu i spekulaciji kao alatu za stvaranje pravednijih budućnosti.
