MARS - Mljet Adventure Robinson Society

MARS - Mljet Adventure Robinson Society No. 1 Summer festival on the island of Mljet • Artist residency • Green architecture playground

The idea was driven by a desire to create an oasis of creative people that complement the pristine natural resources of the island with the fragrant Mediterranean forest of Babino Polje. We wanted to offer inspiration of a better life to ourself, our friends, and all of those who enjoy the scent of the sea and pine trees, the view of the horizon, and the warm sun rays with a pinch of culture and a

ctive life. Our enthusiasm was transformed into harmonious hands that designed and built a natural idyll on our own, at the crossroads of art, culture, science, and sustainable lifestyle. Through its continuous growth and development, MARS will achieve recognition in encouraging and promoting culture, art and crafts, science, sustainable lifestyles, and protection of health, environment, and nature through the development and implementation of innovative workshops, lectures and ambient screenings, concerts, performances, and exhibitions.

Our beautiful forest has once again come alive – more magical than ever. ✨🌳 With our 6th edition behind us, we close our summer residency while a new one is already quietly taking shape.

Endless gratitude to everyone who brought their ideas, work, energy, and warmth. You are very special individuals who complete this beautiful circle – the true soul of the MARS story. ❤️

Until the next gathering – let’s keep this little paradise alive, together. Cheers to the MARS gang! 🥂

🎶 BALKLAVALHAU — CLOSING THE 6TH MARS FESTIVAL

We closed this year’s MARS with a powerful and dynamic performance by Balklavalhau BKVL — a band whose members come from Germany, Brazil, Poland, and Chile, and who brought with them a rich and deeply rooted sound.

Instrumentally strong and layered, Balklavalhau had the opportunity to perform, for the first time, in front of an audience that truly understands the language of the songs they’ve been playing for years, even though none of the band members are from this part of Europe.

Formed in Portugal, and now five years in, this summer marks their very first tour through the Balkans, the region whose music inspires everything they do. We’re honoured that MARS was one of the stops on that journey.

Big shout out to everyone who joined us — for listening, dancing, and sharing this final night together. 🫶

🌅 SARA RENAR & DIMITRIJE SIMOVIĆ — LIVE AT JAMA

For the sixth year in a row, Sara Renar & Dimitrije Simović returned to MARS — always close and familiar, yet unmistakably different and truly their own.

This time, they brought their music to a new setting: a live set at JAMA, on the edge of the cave, facing the sea, wrapped in golden hour light. With quiet confidence and deep connection, they tapped into a shared sensibility, while the stars slowly appeared above the horizon, Every seat, every space, fully taken, and fully present.

A perfect evening. In every sense. ✨

🏃‍♂️ JAMA RUNNING RACE 2025

Part race, part ritual — and now already a MARS tradition.

From the depths of Odysseus’ Cave to the top of the road and back again, runners face steep climbs, loose stones… and one crucial mission: 🎯 grab a crate of beer at the top and bring it back down!

This year, not only did we have a full lineup, we got a new course record. 🏆🔥

🥇 Matija Dabelić – 6:22 (new course record!)
🥈 Luka Aničić (Herki) – 7:50
🥉 Josip Sršen – 7:53
4. Aron Tanocki – 8:04
5. Thomas (Balklavalhau) – 8:38
6. Shauna – 9:51 (the only lady contestant – respect!)
7. DJ Kuna – 14:17 (the only contestant who carried down two crates of beer.)

Congrats to all the runners for giving it their all on this epic uphill-downhill challenge! Same track next year. Who’s in? 😎

🌌 AMAL DUO ON MARS

Mia Reba returned to the MARS stage for the fifth time, this time as part of the newly formed Amal Duo delivering a performance that was both powerful and deeply transportive.

Through a rich blend of languages, stories, and sounds, they reimagined old legends for the here and now — from North Africa to the Balkans, from memory to presence.

Mia’s voice held the forest in silence, while the music led us somewhere timeless. And just when we thought the journey was over, a surprise encore with Balklavalhau, who take the stage tonight for their own set.

A night to remember. ✨

🎶 freekind. on MARS

Gentle, grounded and full of presence, freekind gifted us a delicate and soulful evening, presenting new, never-before-played arrangements that hint at the shape of their upcoming album — quietly bold and unlike anything before. ✨

They introduced a fresh sound, subtle, stripped down, and deeply honest. The audience responded with warmth, and by the end, joined in with voices and rhythm, turning the concert into a shared moment.

A special shoutout to Nina, who stepped outside her drummer’s comfort zone and shared her voice with us, and to Sara, for the support and encouragement. We loved every second of this musical unfolding. 🫶

🎬 MARS CINÉMA – CLOSING NIGHT

Our third and final evening under the forest canopy marked the end of this year’s MARS Cinéma, with 18 short films shown across three nights.

The winner of the evening was Sara Renar, stepping into a new role as director with the music video for her latest song “Nježne riječi”, a preview of her upcoming album.

The MARS Cinema 2025 Audience Award for best film across three cinéma evenings goes to the documentary “Put kojim idemo” (The Path We Take) by Tea Radić (Kino Klub Split). 🌟👏

Congratulations to the authors, and thank you to everyone who joined us under the stars. See you next year at MARS Cinéma 2026!

🎬 MARS CINÉMA II

A special evening with three incredible filmmakers — Mia Marinić, Tea Radić and Ada Nela Petard — whose films lit up our forest screen on the second night of MARS Cinema. 🎞️

The audience had a tough choice, but the most votes went to the documentary “Put kojim idemo” (The Path We Take) by Tea Radić (Kino Klub Split).

Huge thanks to the authors for sharing this evening with us, and to everyone who filled the cinema with presence and applause. Tonight we wrap up the Cinema programme and find out which film takes the full Audience Award. 🌟

See you under the pines!

🌙 TRI LEPE ON MARS

A melancholic, romantic evening with three wonderful musicians Ana Ćurčin, Milena Jančurić and Ana Protulipac, five instruments, and a forest that seemed to hold its breath.

Tri Lepe wrapped us in sound: bass guitar, classical guitar, keys, harmonica, and flute gently weaving a story we felt as much as we heard. It was a true joy to host such special artists in what they themselves called the most special place we’ve ever played.

Some nights ask to be repeated and this was one of them. We’ll be waiting for their return. ❤️

🎬 MARS KIDS CINEMA 2025 🍭

Our second film night was dedicated to the youngest — and this year, many of them returned a little older, finally ready for the forest cinema experience.

In a carefully curated selection of short films, our young audience recognised what moved them most. The Audience Award went to “Štef i Joža”, by the author duo Petar Slipčević & Juraj Iveković (Zagreb Film). 🌟👏

Congratulations to the filmmakers on a piece that truly captured the hearts of the audience, and thank you to all the young viewers who cast their vote.

See you next year at MARS Kids Cinema! 🫶

🌕 ANE PAŠKA ON MARS

A concert that felt more like a gathering in Ane’s living room, as if she invited us into her world with no effort, and we all just… stepped in. ✨

Masterful stage presence, fearless storytelling, and that signature mix of playful, honest and unpredictable humour and depth, Ane Paška Art moved through stories, laughter and quiet tenderness as if the stage belonged to her or better yet, as if she belonged to MARS all along. 🧜‍♀️

“All of us can fit into each other’s embrace,” she sang, and for a moment, under the pines and the stars, we truly did.

Thank you Ane, and thank you to everyone who shared this beautiful night with us. ❤️

🎬 MARS Cinéma I kicked off under the stars! 🌟

The first of three cinéma nights lit up the forest with four short films, quiet concentration, and loud applause. As always, watching films under the open sky felt like a small kind of magic. 🌌

The crowd watched, voted, and the winner of the evening was “Špurijus” by Luka Eterović (Arts Academy, Split), taking the lead in the audience choice vote. But the story’s not over yet as two more Cinéma nights are to go, and the audience award is still up for grabs… 😎
