Galerijo Z sta leta 1966 ustanovila kiparka Sonja Rauter Zelenko in slikar Karel Zelenko. Bila je ena izmed prvih galerij v Grožnjanu, slikovitem mestecu v Istri, ki ga danes poznamo tudi kot Mesto umetnikov. Galerija se nahaja v dveh ločenih prostorih v starodavni kamniti istrski hiši družine Zelenko kjer vsako pomlad in poletje odpre svoja vrata številnim obiskovalcem od vsepovsod. Novejši del
galerije gosti dela Nine in Karla Zelenka, v prvotnem prostoru pa v zadnjem času gostujejo tudi vabljen umetniki. Gallery Z was founded by sculptor Sonja Rauter Zelenko and painter Karel Zelenko in 1966. It was one of the first of many galleries in Grožnjan, a picturesque medieval village in Istria (Croatia), also known as The Town of Artists. The gallery occupies two spaces in an ancient Istrian stone house belonging to the Zelenko family. Every spring and summer Gallery Z opens its doors to welcome visitors from all over the world. The newer part of the gallery hosts the work of Karel Zelenko and his daughter Nina, while the original space has become a venue for exhibitions by invited artists.
