Late afternoon Sun, created an orange wash on the buildings' facades, complementing the blue glass panes on the building behind. A master stroke executed by the unseen brush of nature, the source of inspiration for the artists since men started rendering on stone walls in ancient time. It's for all to enjoy if we just open our eyes to savour them.

Summer is here, the shimmering light cascade through between the congested buildings, moments that so often escaped us in our busy life.

The familiar creaking sound of the tram as it traverse tracks laid a century ago with some carriages looking the age and relatively unaltered in design with exception of a few refurbished with aircon... accompanied one's journey East to West and vice versa. The iconic tram offers glimpses of the past and the present inter-mixed.

Introduction to Artist: Anthony Fryer

Doors hold so many connotations, some positive and some negative.
The saying ‘one door closes and another one opens’ is considered a positive saying about the opportunities we are faced with on our individual journeys and how we might choose to face our challenges.
The mystery and wonder we often feel when walking past certain doors and doorways – this will often encourage us to wonder who lives there. What kind of a world exists behind these everyday passageways.

‘Anthony Fryer was educated in the United Kingdom. He studied Art and design at the famous Shelley Park Art College in Bournemouth. He then studied his Fine Art degree at Southampton University where he exhibited and sold paintings namely in the Beatrice Royal Gallery in Southampton and the Royal College of Art Hunting Prize exhibition in London.’

The origins of works by Danny TOH

Our life is like a canvas, we start with a blank, and we lived our lives according to how we paint it ... painted well we transcend mortality as the canvas lives on beyond our mortal existence on walls and viewed with admiration. Not all are such as most do not progressed beyond anonymity and gathered dust, abandoned or obliterated.... though not all great canvas were created without reinventing themselves and painted over by the creators... some over and over again. Some were lifted from being mundane with some help ... my works fall in the latter category. I painted on canvases left behind in anonymity, some were merely canvases that were abandoned with minimal marks on them, hope I have done enough to at least allow these canvases to get prolonged and lived on on someone's wall.

This is similar to the nature of what I do as an educator, all my students come to me not as blank canvas, what I do is to guide them on, at times it takes a bit more, at times they blossomed without much to be done. I try not to leave any behind.

Arriving in late 2018, HK was as I envisaged from my recollections of movies my grandma used to take me to watch during my early childhood - eclectic , chaotic, rich and colourful.

These works are extension of my photographic pursuit. As I framed each shot on my camera I could see the images taking shapes on a new canvas. In some, images intertwined and cohabit organically while maintaining their original forms on a canvas but subdivided … the results being as chaotic and defy any sense of order much like the environment that inspired me. Similarly they coexist in the visual ecosystem naturally.
