Lucents are obv locked in 🔒

Joining the legendary XDB coming Friday, Ryan Doherty and Andy Smith are also joining forces as Lucents, a dj/producer duo from the UK who now call Hong Kong their home.

As producers, they nod to classic deep and soulful dance music, but with their added twists of swinging rhythms and textures, cinematic moods combined with a minimal approach. Their mission is to create transcendental moments, deep and meaningful, where darkness meets light.

As DJs, they encompass what it means to work as a team, building the energy and atmosphere together in a unique and playful way. Always feeding off each other and delivering that emotion to the dancefloor. They are as at home playing rare 12" disco records as they are playing Detroit techno and everything in between.

Their main drive is uniting people with music by providing a positive energy of love, togetherness, and a higher vibration. This is evident in everything they do.

Entropy

FRIDAY, JUNE 6, 23h
HK$150 (link in bio) / HK$250 (door)

Bravely toward chaos as Entropy 熵 returns for a night of relentless exploration of the industrial and otherwordly.

Osaka's techno vanguard, Ryuji Takeuchi (LSN / HueHelix) is first making contact with music in the 90s US, when he deeply immersed himself in the roots of Techno, House, and Electro. In Japan he translated these global influences into a prolific production career, releasing on definitive labels such as Mastertrax, GSR, and Brood Audio.

Through his imprints Local Sound Network and HueHelix, he's trying to push the standard of electronic sound. His driving energy rocks from brain to dancefloor, and fits the Entropy 熵 entourage like a glove. Yung on opening, with Nanogram and Marco Yu going back to back on closing duties.

Gonno
Gonno is a key figure in Japan's current house and techno scene. His releases have appeared on respected local labels and have also reached other continents.

He brings an acidic, melodic touch to his DJ and live sets while staying true to his roots.

His 2011 release “Acdise #2” on International Feel Recordings was a breakthrough, earning plays from Laurent Garnier and James Holden, and remains a long selling track. It's fair to call it one of the best Japanese techno tunes that year.

In 2015, Gonno released his first solo album in ten years, “Remember The Life Is Beautiful,” on Endless Flight, gaining wider international praise. His remix of Jeff Mills’ “Light Of Electric Energy” appeared on Mills’ album “Where Light Ends.” Other work includes the solo EP “The Noughties” on Beats In Space Records and a collaboration EP with Nick Höppner, “Fantastic Planet,” on Ostgut Ton.

Over the past three years, while still touring, he has remixed for labels like Cocktail D’Amore Music and Butter Sessions. He also collaborated with drummer Masumura on the 2018 album “In Circles” on P-vine Records, blending electronics with Afro jazzy drums. Giles Peterson played their track on BBC Radio.

In 2019, he continues touring, with sets at Dekmantel Selectors Croatia, Berghain, Canada, and the US. A new EP with Nick Höppner on Ostgut Ton is coming, along with several remixes.

This DJ mix for Dimensions is his first exclusive mix since 2015, and his first official release since his 2018 Beats In Space Radio show.

Xiaolin
Xiaolin's dreamlike sound balances light and dark, tension and release. Her analog heavy productions range from gritty acid and tech house to electro and dubby ambience, blending soft imagination with raw power.

She curates genre free journeys. Her DJ sets draw from the four elements. Her EP's on 宀 and Klasse Wrecks along with her live performances earned her critical acclaim and a special place in 宀 programming. She hosts a show on Bauhui and mixed for The Lot and NTS.

宀 x REACH are proud to invite an artist carrying a bag with three decades of dedication to deep house and dub techno. While easily making a connection between Detroit and Germany, he's been earning great respect of dancers and colleagues alike, three turntables at a time.

XDB is Kosta Athanassiadis – German by birth and in residence, with Greek parentage. His roots are in the central German town of Göttingen where he began DJing in the early nineties, worked in a record shop, ran a radio show for five years and established the Metrolux record label in 2006.

His debut 'Jackintosh EP' and the following 'Descap EP' made a splash. While shimmering dub techno was the obvious hook, subsequent tracks defied easy categorisation – an early sign that XDB took a broad view of electronic music.

An avid vinyl collector since childhood, he honed his craft spinning wax since 1993. 2008 brought an early highlight – spinning at Japan's Labyrinth festival. His DJ sets draw on his expansive collection, playing across the quality side of electronic music. He prefers a 3-decks setup but it's his selection that shines, delivering plenty of 'what the hell is this track?' moments.

In 2010 XDB played at Freerotation in Wales – a love affair that's seen him return every edition since. Events like Waking Life, Houghton, DeWeide and Lighthouse Festival invite him back regularly.

When producing, Kosta favours a slow work rate and quality control. He remixed Detroit heroes Norm Talley and Aaron Carl and released on Sistrum and Ferox. His debut album "Inspiron" came out in 2020 on Dial Records.

His DJing keeps him in the public eye as a favourite b2b partner for Jane Fitz, Don Williams and many more. With three decades of experience in 35 countries, there's a refreshing lack of gimmickry – keeping it low-key lets him be judged solely on talent. It's helped establish him as an artist of considerable merit, winning the approval of audiences and peers alike.

Shhhhh
Shhhhh is a Tokyo-based DJ and sound explorer who blends diverse musical styles into a seamless, genre-defying groove. He crafts dancefloor experiences mixing ethnic rhythms with cutting-edge electronic sounds. He is also a music writer, collaborator, and advocate for cultural exchange.

He was involved in the collective around Japan's band Boredoms, supporting their tours and occasionally DJing. Since fall 2018, he has been a resident DJ at The Observatory in Ho Chi Minh City. His presence has grown through radio platforms like Worldwide FM and NTS, plus festival and underground performances worldwide.

During the pandemic, he produced the Gamlan Mix, selected by Resident Advisor as Mix of the Day. As a lineup advisor for EACH STORY, he curates sonic experiences that foster collaboration. Festival appearances include Mindgames presents Labyrinth 2024, Future Terror, Rainbow Disco Club, rural, and more.

His label, "El Folklore Paradox," embodies his philosophy: "Traditional music carries hints of the most cutting-edge sounds of the future, while the latest techno remains connected to ancient folk music through the DNA of human memory and rhythm."

Hibiya Line
Hibiya Line is not Japanese. It is Dan, a Swiss-Vietnamese guy who in 2006 began playing live acts mixing house and techno in Lausanne with two friends. They quickly made a name and were invited to Swiss festivals like Montreux Jazz, Paleo, and Motel Campo. His immersion in the Swiss scene brought him to Saigon in 2012, and in 2013, he opened The Observatory.

Since then, Hibiya Line has become one of the most versatile and resilient DJs in the region, with the drive to take control of dance floors from sundown to sunrise. His sound explores house, disco and techno, but he always throws in open-ended tracks to make the journey more diverse. He likes extended sets to let the audience become immersed in the sonic story he wants to share.
