【Cultural Resonance】Hair is more than just appearance.

Across cultures and throughout history, artificial hair has served as a marker of status and identity. From traditions rooted in ancient times to modern expressions of culture, its significance has stood the test of time and has shifted across time and place.

In the Artificial Hair Series, the strands are vibrant and glossy, while the brushstrokes of overlapping and tangled hair represent the layers of meaning, memory, and cultural history attached to artificial hair over time. His work invites us to consider what is real, and what we choose to value.

【Artist Spotlight】Ora-Ora is delighted to share that Cindy Ng Sio Ieng cindy ng is co-curator of “Jacone’s Polyphony,” the official exhibition from Macau, China, at the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.

Drawing inspiration from the unfinished journey of Qing dynasty painter, and poet Wu Li, also known as “Jacone”, the exhibition explores themes of cultural exchange, identity, and coexistence through multiple artistic perspectives.

Bringing together the works of Eric Fok Hoi Seng 霍凱盛 , O Chi Wai, and Veronica Lei Fong Ieng, “Jacone’s Polyphony” creates a dialogue between Macau’s multicultural history and contemporary artistic practice.

Located directly opposite the Biennale’s main Arsenale venue, the exhibition runs from 9 May to 22 November 2026 and is free to the public.

If you are visiting Venice this year, we encourage you to experience this thoughtful exploration of Macau’s unique cultural heritage and its continuing relevance today.

【Cultural Resonance】Artificial hair carries a history far beyond its physical form.

From the elaborate wigs of the 18th century to Victorian hairwork and contemporary sculptural art, artificial hair has long held a significant place in art history and has served as a marker of identity and cultural exchange.

In the Artificial Hairs series, Jiang Heng reimagines artificial hair as a way to trace histories and human experience. By depicting these synthetic strands in vibrant colors, he invites viewers to reflect on what is real and what we choose to value.

【Gallery Walkthrough】The Substance of Mirage by Jiang Heng

Step inside the first solo exhibition by Chinese contemporary artist Jiang Heng.

Working from the crossroads of industry, consumerism, and tradition, Jiang Heng asks a deceptively simple question: what is real, and what do we truly choose to value?

Across two captivating series - glossy, lifeless strands of “Artificial Hairs” and the layered sculptural forms of “I Divided My Body Into Pixels For You” - illusion melts into reality, and history blends into the present. Take a walk through the gallery with us and discover the textures, layers, and quiet tensions that bring this body of work to life.

In our Studio Stories series, our contemporary artists discuss their unique rhythms of creation.

In this episode, Tech artist Henry Chu .hu invites us into a practice shaped by quiet rituals, personal symbolism, and a deep curiosity for the inner life of objects.

He shares the small gesture that marks the beginning of every studio day, and opens up about a recent work born from his reflections on imperfection — and the delicate tension between technology and the natural world.

Looking ahead, Henry imagines a future where instruments become characters, machines carry emotions, and art becomes an orchestra of feeling.
