Artspace K Artspace K is an exhibition venue and an art gallery dedicated to the promotion of contemporary artis

Established in 2020, Artspace K at The Repulse Bay Arcade (former Repulse Bay Hotel) is a platform promoting contemporary art. Centered on “life and art”, we are dedicated to the presentation of artists and their works through specially curated exhibitions. Established and emerging artists are welcome to participate in our exhibitions, educational programmes, workshops, lectures, etc. Through our

platform, we hope to raise the public’s interest in art becoming part of their lives. Artspace K 在2020 年成立，位於淺水灣影灣園 (前淺水灣酒店)，為推廣當代藝術的平臺，以「生活與藝術」為核心理念，用策劃展覽的模式，深入介紹各地當代藝術家與推廣他們的作品。 我們歡迎各地具有高知名度的藝術家以及新銳藝術家參與展覽和我們所舉辦的教育活動，包括展出藝術家的工作坊及講座等，期盼透過這個平臺讓大眾更容易接觸到藝術，激起對藝術的興趣。

✨陶出新意｜新品介绍✨

花生，果實多籽，中國傳統文化裡有硕果累累、豐收、多子（籽）、好事發生（花生）的寓意。而這些一顆顆盛在碟子上，帶著一點重量，摸上去粗糙、凹凹凸凸，又剝不開的小花生其實是來自於台灣「一間陶」的陶瓷工藝品。

一間陶作為生活陶瓷專賣店，一直追求著讓人耳目一新的陶瓷工藝品。為客人帶來可愛的、奇怪的、有趣的，同時是可以負擔的生活器具。Artspace K—the shop把這些玩味十足的小花生帶來香港，希望為客人帶來新春的美好祝福。

In Chinese traditional culture, peanuts, because they are fruits with multiple seeds, symbolize abundance, harvest, fertility (many seeds), and the occurrence of good things (peanuts). These small peanuts placed on the plate, with a bit of weight and a rough texture, and unpeeled, are ceramic artworks from "IKKEMTO" in Taiwan.

IKKEMTO, a lifestyle ceramics store, has always pursued innovative ceramic artworks that catch people's eyes. It offers cute, strange, interesting, and affordable products. Artspace K—The shop has brought these playful peanuts to Hong Kong, hoping to bring New Year blessings to the customers.

🟥【破與立 Break and Establish】

聳立的高樓構成一條條的直線，若只存在大量直線，會使畫面顯得沈悶，而王秋童在建造高低錯落的高樓外，也嘗試在畫面中加入呈曲線弧形的水氣雲霧，以及散佈在樓宇上的點點星光。以弧形和點狀破除呆板的線條，為摩登都市氛圍增添了一份水墨畫的韻味、一份生動的人情味，並確立了一種鮮明的新水墨風格——都市水墨。

在了解中西繪畫元素的技法下，他融合了西方的印象派與國畫的寫意風格的意念，繪畫不再只是描繪現實，而是由個人真摯情感出發對腦中記憶的投影。

The towering skyscrapers form straight lines, but an abundance of straight lines alone can make the scene appear dull. Wong Chau Tung, in constructing high and low-staggered skyscrapers, also attempts to introduce curves and arcs representing mist and clouds into the scene, as well as scattered starlight on the buildings. By breaking the rigidity of straight lines with curves and dots, he adds a touch of ink painting charm and vivid human warmth to the modern urban atmosphere, establishing a distinct new ink painting style - urban ink painting.

By understanding the techniques of both Eastern and Western painting elements, he integrates the Impressionist style of the West with the freehand style of traditional Chinese painting, painting is no longer just about depicting reality. It is about projecting memories from the depths of one's sincere emotions.

🟥【 王秋童的都市水墨 Wong Chau Tung's Urban Ink Painting 】

王秋童1979年來到香港，對香港情有獨鍾，嘗試利用寫意水墨形式來記錄這個城市的美麗景觀，通過三十年的不斷實踐，發展出獨成一派的都市水墨創作風格。他融合了中西繪畫技藝，描繪出這個中西文化交融的地方，呈現了絢爛迷人的都市夜景和文化節慶，畫出了「家」的味道。

Wong Chau Tung came to Hong Kong in 1979 and developed a deep affection for the city. He attempted to use the Xieyi (freehand ink painting style) to record the beautiful landscapes of this city. Through thirty years of continuous practice, he has created a unique urban ink painting style. By integrating Chinese and Western painting techniques, he portrays the fusion of Chinese and Western cultures, presenting the dazzling urban nightscapes and cultural festivals, capturing the essence of "home".

隨著人們生活環境的改變，藝術家所描繪的景象也隨之改變，從生活靜物、自然風光到城市景觀都可以成為創作的主題，藝術家又如何通過水墨刻畫現代都市與其璀璨的一面？Artspace K特別邀請王秋童老師分享與親自示範，觀眾可以近距離觀看老師如何從構圖、線條和色彩去創作極具個人特色的都市水墨作品，感受藝術家的創作過程，了解他對都市景觀的詮釋和情感演繹，同時帶領大家一同探索都市水墨的創新魅力。

With the changing of people's living environments, the scenes depicted by artists have also changed. From natural landscapes to urban views, how can they portray modern cities and their glittery views through ink painting? Artspace K is hosting two special exhibition events led by the pioneer artist in urban ink art, Wong Chau Tung. 王秋童

1944年生於廣東汕頭，1979年移居香港，對香港這個城市情有獨鍾，並從中汲取創作靈感。王秋童初期都市寫實風格創作多次獲得肯定，但他認為早期作品多是「香港畫我」，主觀的筆墨被實景限制，情感難以自由流露。直到 80年代末，他領悟到「我畫香港」後，創作進入寫意都市水墨畫的階段，開始描繪心中的香港，透過線條、色彩、光暈和墨韻的交融，將人們眼中的真實形象和潛意識的印象加以疊加。

王秋童的作品糅合了中西技法，採取了西方印象派對空氣、光影及色彩的描繪技巧，也保留中國寫意花鳥畫中的點、刷、潑、破、漬的技法，成為獨特的「都市水墨」藝術風格，並體現了「新水墨」的特色，更被譽為都市水墨的先行者和開拓者。

Wong Chau Tung

Born in Shantou, Guangdong in 1944, Wong Chau Tung moved to Hong Kong in 1979. He is deeply passionate about Hong Kong and has been inspired by the city. Though his realistic urban paintings are widely acclaimed, he acknowledged his early works were constrained by his objective conception of Hong Kong; he describes this as “Hong Kong paints me”, indicating that his paintings lacked expression. Since he realised that it should be “I paint Hong Kong” instead, he transitioned to exploring and establishing urban ink paintings of the Xie-yi style. In the late 1980s, he began creating Xie-yi urban ink paintings by portraying Hong Kong in his mind, expressing his feelings by blending of lines, colours, halos and ink tones, overlaying the reality and subconscious.

Wong Chau Tung created a perfect blend between Eastern and Western techniques, adopting Western Impressionist techniques to depict air, light and colour while retaining traditional Chinese bird-and-flower style ink techniques such as dotting, brushing, splashing, breaking and staining paintings. This fusion has given rise to his unique “urban ink painting style”, which embodies the characteristics of “New Ink Art,” earning him the title of “pioneer and trailblazer of urban ink painting.”

As each night descends, towering skyscrapers and ships light up Victoria Harbour, marking a grand opening for a new moment of magical charm in the city.

Artspace K presents the “Glitter－Wong Chau Tung Solo Exhibition”, showcasing a series of works by Wong which harmoniously combine elements from Chinese and Western artistic traditions. Having explored urban ink painting skills and drawing inspiration from Hong Kong architecture for 30 years, this exhibition offers an artistic and romantic portrayal of Hong Kong’s night scenes and cultural festivals.

夜幕低垂，維多利亞港兩岸高聳入雲的摩天建築與海上船隻都亮起燈，是城市展開另一番魅力的時刻。

Artspace K舉辦「璀璨─王秋童個展」，展出王秋童融合中西繪畫元素的水墨作品，以他探索都市水墨創作三十年經驗，描繪香港燦爛的都市夜景及文化節慶。期待透過展覽作品讓大家感受一個充滿藝術與浪漫氛圍的香港。
