1a空間自1998成立，由一群香港藝術工作者發起及組成，是一個非牟利的視覺藝術組織，目標為推動香港及國際當代視藝的創作及探討。

經過多年來的努力，1a空間已發展成香港主要的當代視覺藝術機構之一。迄今，1a空間已製作及策劃超過一百三十個展覽和活動，當中包括國際交流、文化節、社區互動藝術、藝術教育、藝術賞析、藝術評論和出版。1a空間於開拓香港視覺藝術的新領域上，擔當著積極的角色。其中重要的貢獻是著力於當代視覺藝術的推廣，令其更為普及和易於參與，並擴闊觀眾參與的層面。

1a space, founded in 1998, is an independent, non-profit making contemporary visual art organization and art venue founded by a collective of Hong Kong artworkers.

It aims to promote the critical dissemination of contemporary visual arts practices and affiliated artforms through 1a space programme drawn from Hong Kong and international arena.

1a space has played a vital role in developing new frontiers for the visual art scene in Hong Kong and abroad. One of its major achievements has been to establish contemporary visual art within a wide viewing public, making it more popular and accessible.

【ALTART 藝術另計】評審小組

1a空間「藝術另計」藝術教育計劃書公開招募早前已圓滿結束。我們收到多份充滿創意的優秀教案，衷心感謝各位藝術教育實踐者與創作者的踴躍參與，以及對藝術教育的熱忱。

本計劃於5月初由8位評審組成的評審小組，經過深入討論，並依據原創性、可行性、受眾定位及計劃宗旨的契合度進行嚴謹評核，最終從眾多優秀計劃書中遴選7份具創新視野的藝術教案。在此特別鳴謝本次的評審小組成員（排名不分先後）：霍瑞棠、方敏兒、方韻芝、馮美華、盧樂謙、白雙全、徐詩穎、嚴瑞芳，以及主持會議的計劃總監張景威。

所有入選者將於6月正式見面，屆時將舉行簡介會，促進理念交流，並為6月至10月開展的藝術實踐作準備。

【We are looking for Interns!】

If you are passionate about art and seeking a flexible internship, join the 1a space Internship Programme 2026 to explore one of Hong Kong's most prominent art organisations.

This is a unique opportunity for students in arts, culture, or related disciplines to gain hands-on contemporary art exhibition experience in a professional gallery setting. Interns will work closely with our team to support arts education, outreach programmes, marketing and promotions, gallery setup and dismantling, and administrative tasks.

Programme Details:

Duration: July to October 2026
Hours: Flexible schedule (includes evenings and weekends)

In times when the art world circulates narratives such as the ‘conceptual’, ‘socially-engaged’, and ‘de-materialised’, Chloë Cheuk remains committed to a practice that is adamantly skill-based. Recognising what serves her art is both a coping mechanism and a transgressive strategy.

Here, the phrase down to earth does not suggest location, direction, or destination. Neither is it an identifier for the character of a person or the virtue of an artist. Instead, it describes Chloë Cheuk’s disposition to mobilise all that comes along her path to create: everything as in what is abundant; what is lacking; and what situation she chooses to be in as well as what she is thrown into.

【down to earth (exhale) 】Curator-led Exhibition Walkthrough Recap

Thank you to everyone who joined our Curator-led Exhibition Walkthrough of down to earth (exhale) at 1a space. We are deeply grateful to Curator Yang Yeung for sharing her composed voice-text throughout the walkthrough, shadowing the artworks and providing a reflective framework for reading the exhibition.

In the walkthrough, we revisited the exhibition’s inspirations and influences, considered how ideas inform one another, and reflected on the process of art-making—alongside the voices of women artists and writers.

We look forward to welcoming you again at 1a space to experience the works in person.

【巴塞爾藝術展香港展會 】學校導賞團回顧 School Guided Tour Recap

藝術教育不應只局限於教室。在剛過去的巴塞爾藝術展香港展會，1a空間帶領多個學校團體穿梭於展位之間，與學生一同探索當代藝術的無限可能。

本次導賞團重點介紹在香港設有實體空間的畫廊，讓學生更深入了解本地當代藝術生態。學生們展現出的好奇心與深刻討論，為我們帶來極大的鼓舞，也再次印證藝術教育的意義。

在1a空間展位，學生們觀賞了區凱琳與張海活的作品《再沒有 而且永遠不會再有》，透過物質的重量與時間的痕跡，感受消逝與記憶的主題，並思考如何體會藝術中的空間與餘韻。這件以舊作建構而成的臨時空間，為學生帶來深刻的感受。

Art education should never be confined to the classroom. During the recent Art Basel Hong Kong, 1a space, led multiple school groups through the fair, exploring the infinite possibilities of contemporary art together with the students.

The school tour highlighted galleries that maintain a permanent presence in the city, introducing students to the vibrant local contemporary art scene. The students’ curiosity and profound discussions greatly inspired us and reaffirmed the importance of art education.

At the 1a space booth, students viewed AU Hoi Lam and CHANG Hoi Wood’s work, 'Never will there be again'. Through the weight of matter and traces of time, they explored themes of disappearance and memory, and reflected on the experience of space and resonance in art. This temporary installation, built from remnants of the artists’ previous work, was a deeply moving encounter for the students.
