That’s a wrap! ✨Thank you to everyone who joined us for our final series of workshops.

It was an incredible two days of pulling back the curtain on Hong Kong’s first 360° immersive dome. From exploring the complexities of real-time projection mapping and multi-channel sound to diving into visual storytelling with TouchDesigner, it was amazing that seeing so many students and art-tech enthusiasts share in the behind-the-scenes.

As the dome lights dim for a temporary rest, we carry the energy of these final sessions with us. This marks the end of this stage for FutureScope, but our journey is far from over.

⌓ Waving Script - Shades of White (ft. Chan Oi Ying) ⌓ Interactive Performance Recap

Deepest thanks to all who were part of this meditative experience inside the dome. In Waving Script - Shades of White, media artist Chris Cheung collaborated with calligrapher Chan Oi Ying, transforming brainwave and motion data into living ink visuals across the 360-degree dome.

Participants first immersed themselves in the quiet rhythm of brush on paper, then wore brainwave and motion-tracking devices to see their own strokes evolve into real-time, ever-changing projections. The experience honoured the calligraphic philosophy of “Shades of White,” where emptiness is not absence, but presence.

FutureScope presents 3 free entry introductory workshops, offering a behind-the-scenes look at Hong Kong’s first 360‑degree immersive hemispherical art space. This immersive and interactive experience allows the audience to explore the fusion of calligraphy, technology, and meditation. Using specialized devices to capture brainwave and motion data, each stroke is being transformed into 360-degree visuals.

This meditative journey begins with a showcase of Waving Script - Shades of White in collaboration with Hong Kong calligrapher Chan Oi Ying, followed by a live demonstration revealing how brainwave and motion data dynamically shape and manipulate the calligraphic imagery across the dome's surface in real-time. Participants will then step directly into the creative process, first immersing themselves in the meditative quality of calligraphy by making marks on paper, then experimenting with brainwave and motion tracking technology to see how their strokes translate into living dome projections.

⌓ Waving Script - Shades of White Featuring Artist: Chan Oi Ying ⌓

Join us for an immersive experience fusing calligraphy, technology, and meditation. Specialized devices capture brainwave and motion data, transforming each stroke into 360-degree visuals. The journey begins with works by Hong Kong calligrapher Chan Oi Ying, followed by a live demonstration of how data dynamically shapes calligraphic imagery across a dome in real-time.

A graduate of the Department of Fine Arts at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Oi-Ying specialized in calligraphy during her three-year undergraduate program, mentored by Professor Tong Kam-tang. Proficient in all five major scripts—Seal, Clerical, Regular, Running, and Cursive—Oi-Ying has received the Outstanding Student Award and the Chinese Calligraphy Creation Award.

Over the past four years, she has regularly traveled to Japan to pursue advanced studies in Japanese modern calligraphy, mentored by Amano Hekison, a Standing Director of the Keiseikai and a judging member of the Mainichi Shodo Exhibition. With 13 years of dedication to calligraphy, she is now a full-time professional calligrapher who actively promotes the art form through solo exhibitions.

In 2025, Oi-Ying held a joint exhibition with Inoue Yuichi in Taipei. Her work is also held in the permanent collection of the 460-year-old Kenkō-ji Temple in Japan, where the head priest is the internationally acclaimed Zen garden master, Shunmyō Masuno.

陳靄凝畢業於香港中文大學藝術系，三年學士期間深造書法藝術，精通篆、隸、楷、行、草五種書體，曾獲優異生獎及中國書法創作獎。大學及畢業作品指導老師為唐錦騰教授。陳氏過去四年定期遠赴日本深造日本現代書法，師從天野碧邨老師（現任奎星會常任理事及每日書道展審査會員）。陳氏研習書法至今已達十三年，全職投入書法專業，並積極舉辦個人展覽推廣書藝。2025年，於台北寶吉祥藝術中心與井上有一合辦雙展。作品亦被日本擁有460年歷史的建功寺所收藏，現任住持為國際著名枯山水大師枡野俊明先生。

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for this special journey in the dome! In Waving Script – Bizhentu, Hong Kong media artist Chris Cheung (h0nh1m) collaborated with calligrapher Xu Jing and Cantonese Opera artist Leung Fei-tung, weaving together brainwave data, contemporary ink, and water-sleeve dance to reimagine Lady Wei’s blurred fragments of calligraphic legacy.

Audiences gathered inside the dome, surrounded by a robotic arm tracing spherical trajectories, brainwave-driven generative visuals, and live interactive visuals responding to Leung Fei-tung‘s every body movement. With each gesture, ink, brainwaves, and machinery converged into a single, unrepeatable moment.

感謝每一位親臨《浪書——筆陣圖》特別演出的觀眾！香港媒體藝術家張瀚謙 (h0nh1m) 聯同書法家許靜及粵劇演員梁非同，將腦電波數據、當代水墨與水袖舞編寫成章，重新詮釋書法家衞夫人的故事和筆法精神。

Hong Kong's first large-scale art dome, FutureScope, presents its third and final chapter, Waving Script – Bizhentu. Starting 30 March 2026, visitors will step into a cross-disciplinary journey where ink, body, brainwaves, and machinery converge beneath the dome.

Conceived by Hong Kong media artist Chris Cheung (h0nh1m), the work introduces brainwave data as a new calligraphic medium, extending the spirit of calligraphy into technology, dance, and Cantonese Opera. Within the 360-degree dome, a robotic arm traces spherical trajectories, echoing the act of writing and integrating brainwave data captured during Chris Cheung and calligrapher Xu Jing's creative process. Calligrapher Xu Jing contributes her distinctive "Wine Script"—where ink meets aged red wine, its oxidation imbuing each brushstroke with unprecedented textural depth and tonal richness. The piece turns the tension between conscious and unconscious into visuals, exploring calligraphy as a trace of the awareness in nihility.

⌓ Waving Script - Bizhentu (ft. Xu Jing | Leung Fei-tung) ⌓ Special Live Performance

Bizhentu, a classic essay attributed to Lady Wei and believed to date from the 4th century, systematically expounds on the characteristics of brushstrokes, writing techniques, brush grip,and ink usage. Despite its enduring influence, Lady Wei's own calligraphic works lack clear documentation and survive only in blurred fragments of history.

In special ticketed performances, media artist Chris Cheung (h0nh1m) invites Calligrapher Xu Jing and Cantonese Opera artist Leung Fei-tung in response this absent history through technology, contemporary ink and dance.

Across this 30-minute special live performance, Leung brings to life the seven fundamental brushstroke imagery from Bizhentu into contemporary Cantonese Opera, reinterpreting Lady Wei's story and the spirit of her brushstroke techniques through water-sleeve dance and opera.

◖《浪書——筆陣圖》(ft. 許靜 | 梁非同) ◗ 特別現場演出

相傳於四世紀成書的《筆陣圖》，是東晉女書法家衛夫人（衛鑠）論述筆畫特點、寫法、執筆與用墨的經典著作。千年過去，作為「書聖」王羲之的書法啟蒙老師，她的墨跡並未有清晰記載。

《浪書——筆陣圖》中，媒體藝術家張瀚謙 (h0nh1m) 聯同書法家許靜及粵劇演員梁非同，以藝術科技、當代水墨與水袖舞回應這段空白。30分鐘的特別演出中，梁非同更現場演繹《筆陣圖》中的七種基本筆法意象，如千里陣雲、高峰墜石、百鈞弩發等，一一化為當代粵劇舞步，重新演繹衛夫人的故事與筆法精神。

Waving Script - Bizhentu is an intervention of mind embodiment in calligraphy. It introduces brainwave data as a new calligraphic medium, extending the spirit of calligraphy to the intersection of technology and body. Building upon artist’s earlier work, Waving Script, the artwork unfolding within the 360-degree dome space where a robotic arm moves along spherical trajectories, integrating brainwave data generated during creative process. Xu Jing contributes her distinctive “Wine Script”—the oxidation of ink and aged red wine imbues the brushwork with textural variation, elevating the tonal depth of ink to new dimensions.

In the special performance, Cantonese Opera artist Leung Fei-tung reinterprets the story of the legendary calligrapher Lady Wei (Wei Shuo) of the Eastern Jin Dynasty through water-sleeve dance and Cantonese Opera. Her body inscribes the seven fundamental brushstroke motifs from the “Bizhen Churu Zhanzhuo Tu” [Diagram of the Battle Array of Brushstrokes]—as if ink traces themselves take on the dancer’s form. When ink, body, data, and machinery interwind, the process is a form of practice of the Zen philosophy of “neither arriving nor departing”.

《浪書——筆陣圖》以腦電波作為新書法載體的介入，將書法精神延伸至科技、舞蹈與戲曲的交匯點。作品由藝術家張瀚謙的前作《浪書》延續發展，在360度穹頂空間中讓機械臂以球狀軌跡舞動，與書寫動作互動，並結合張氏和書法家許靜創作時的腦電波數據，將有意識與無意識之間的角力轉化為視像，探索書法作為心靈痕跡的可能。許靜更以獨特的「酒書」形式參與創作——將墨與陳年紅酒的氧化作用，賦予線條有肌理的變化，將墨韻的層次昇華。

演出部份特邀戲曲演員梁非同，透過水袖舞與粵劇現場演繹，重新詮釋東晉時代女書法家衞夫人的故事，以身體書寫「筆陣出入斬斫圖」中七條基本筆法的意象，讓墨跡化為舞者的身段。當筆墨、身體、數據與機械共同起舞，書法的空性於有為與無為之間徐徐浮現，構成一場穹頂之內的多媒體藝術旅程。

⌓ Waving Script - Bizhentu Featuring Artist: Xu Jing ⌓

Waving Script – Bizhentu introduces brainwave data as a new calligraphic medium, extending the spirit of calligraphy into technology, dance, and Cantonese Opera. Building on Chris Cheung's earlier works, the piece unfolds within a 360-degree dome where a robotic arm moves along spherical writing, interacting with the act of writing. Brainwave data captured during Cheung and Xu Jing's creative process transforms the tension between conscious and unconscious into dynamic visuals, exploring calligraphy as a trace of the mind.

Xu Jing is an artist how navigates between tradition and modernity. Her background in design has honed her exceptional sensitivity to lines and spatial composition – a quality deeply reflected in her calligraphic work. Breaking conventional boundaries, she pioneered “Wine Script” (酒書), where red wines incorporates with ink, to create a unique visual language that redefines traditional character structures, compositions and expressions.

Her interdisciplinary experiments explore calligraphy’s limitless possibilities. Through the tension of brushstrokes and structural richness, she captures the narrative depth and spirituality of cinema and dance. Notable collaboration includes creating calligraphy for Zhang Yimou’s films Shadow and Article 20, Peter Chan’s Wu Xia, as well as Dwelling by the West Lake. She has also contributed to dance production such as Yang Liping’s Rite of Spring.

◖ 《浪書——筆陣圖》合作藝術家：許靜 ◗

《浪書——筆陣圖》以腦電波為載體，將書法精神延伸至科技、舞蹈與戲曲。作品延續張瀚謙(h0nh1m)前作《墨・脈》與《浪書》，在360度穹頂內讓機械臂與書寫互動，結合張氏與許靜創作時的腦電波數據，將意識與無意識的張力轉化為視像，探索書法作為心靈痕跡的可能。許靜以獨創「酒書」技法參與，以墨與陳年紅酒的氧化作用，賦予筆觸前所未有的肌理層次。

許靜是一位在傳統與現代之間遊走的書者。得益於設計的經驗，她對於線條及空間具有極高感知，這一點也體現在書法上。她以紅酒入墨的「酒書」，打破了書寫的邊界，形成了不同於傳統書法結字、章法及表達的書寫語言。與電影、舞蹈相關的書法創作，是許靜對書寫可能性的嘗試。她嘗試以書法線條的張力與結構的豐富性，來表現電影與舞蹈的故事感與精神性。她曾為張藝謀導演的電影《影》、《第二十條》、陳可辛導演的電影《武俠》，以及電影《草木人間》等創作書法；亦為舞蹈家的《春之祭》等舞劇創作書法。
