香港版畫工作室(下稱工作室)成立於2000年，是香港首個由版畫家創辦及管理的專業藝術團體, 並於2012年正式成為非牟利慈善團體。工作室致力推廣和普及當代版畫圖像藝術。我們除從事個人創作外，還希望略盡己能，回饋社會，提升社群藝術水平；希望不同年齡，不同階層的人，都可享受和欣賞藝術。

Founded in 2000, Hong Kong Open Printshop is Hong Kong’s first non-profit open printshop run by artists. In 2012, Hong Kong Open Printshop registered as a charitable organisation. Our main aim is to promote visual art with an emphasis on image making, and give back to the community by providing art programmes that people of all ages and from all walks of life can enjoy.

活字印刷的「天書」？🪄The “Magic Manual” of Movable Type Printing? 🪄

排版在現今世代可說是輕而易舉，我們平日只憑幾個簡單按鈕，便從電腦字型選單找出符號或文字；遇有從缺的，亦不難在網上找到資源下載使用。
​
然而，在活版印刷盛行的時代，印刷公司若需印製特殊字型的印件，或遇上顧客指定的訂製圖案，便需向鑄字廠採購相關字粒或訂製電版，方能完成訂單。在這個供與求的採購過程中，羅列出各式各樣可供選購的字款和圖案的活字樣本，可說是當時印刷師傅不可或缺的「天書」！

本次展覽展出了本地四大鑄字行的活字樣本，把握時間前來觀展，一睹它們的廬山真面目~
​
Typesetting today is almost effortless: with just a few clicks, we can find the symbols or characters we need in a computer’s font menu. If a particular typeface is unavailable, it is usually easy to find and download one online.
​
In the heyday of letterpress printing, however, things were very different. When a print shop needed to print work in a specialised typeface or fulfil a client’s request for a custom design, it had to purchase the required type from a type foundry or custom-make a printing plate.
​
In this process of sourcing and purchasing type, type specimens which listed the various typefaces and ornaments available were indispensable “magic books” for printers of the time. ​
​
This exhibition brings together type specimen catalogues from Hong Kong’s four major type foundries. Don’t miss the opportunity to see these fascinating publications up close!

↘ 藝術家自述 Artist Statement
​
他的創作捕捉游離不定的視線，望向遠方漂浮的雲，望向海中早已消失的浪。他利用銅版畫的語言，嘗試將這些碎散的目光壓印並安放在紙上。那是目光的片刻停留，也是眼睛即將遊走之前的安身之所。
​
Through art-making, Cheung practices the act of seeing, passively observing the fleeting
subject—glances once settled on clouds far away, tides long gone. Utilizing the language of printmaking, he attempts to intaglio and secure these scattered glances onto paper. These remnants are printed as a visual language, fragments of descriptions that embody a fixed gaze. His prints serve as a momentary pause, a resting place for exhausted eyes.

​
張梓祈（1996 - ），2018年畢業於香港中文大學藝術系，2023年畢業於西英格蘭大學，獲版畫藝術碩士學位。他於2018年獲得香港版畫工作室年獎，並於翌年舉行首次個人展覽「那天的東邊」。他的作品曾於當代印藝、西英格蘭皇家學院及香港文化博物館等機構展出。

Cheung Tsz-ki (b. 1996) graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2018, and obtained his MA in Multi-disciplinary Printmaking from UWE Bristol in 2023. He received the HKOP Printmaking Award in 2018 and held his first solo exhibition, Whence it comes, the following year. His work has been featured in various exhibitions, including Medium Rare, Medium Well (Hong Kong Print Art Contemporary, 2025), the Royal West of England Academy Annual Exhibition (RWA, 2023), and the 20/20 Hong Kong Print Art Exhibition (Hong Kong Heritage Museum, 2021).

↘ 藝術家自述 Artist Statement
​
李蕊渟探索記憶碎片化及流動性。她將記憶視為由痕跡與個人印象構成的集合，並隨時間與感知不斷變化。她的創作著重於版畫的過程並不追求完美的複製，而是接納製作過程中產生的瑕疵與特性，將每幅版畫視為逝去時光的痕跡指標。作品成為時間流逝與存續的實體印記，映照出記憶如何以脆弱而堅韌的狀態持續重構。

Erica’s practice explores the fragmented and fluid nature of memory. She considers memory as a collection of traces and personal impressions, continually shifting with time and perception.
​
Her work embraces the process of printmaking, where acts of destruction become a means of reconstruction. Examining how memory persists not as a fixed image, but as a collection of personal impressions.

​
李蕊渟於 2026 年畢業於香港浸會大學視覺藝術院。她以版畫作為主要創作媒介，探索記憶的碎片化特質，並關注創作過程中破壞與轉化所帶來的可能性。於畢業展中，她獲頒 The Hart Award，並獲 Kai Tak Printmaking Award (Honourable Mention)。

Erica Lee Yui Ting graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University, in 2026. Her practice explores the fragmented nature of memory through printmaking, with a particular interest in the destructive and transformative process embedded within the medium.
​
She is the recipient of The Hart Award and the Kai Tak Printmaking Award (Honourable
Mention) at her graduation show.

在當代藝術的語境下， #策展 不僅要考量展品的鋪陳，更關乎展覽概念建構、空間運用、與不同界別人士的溝通協作。每一個展覽，都是策展人、藝術家、作品和觀眾之間相互對話的場所。

如何將最原始的發想，轉化為實在的展場空間？如何因應觀眾、場地設置、資源和作品理念等因素，發展出主題清晰、敘事完整的展覽？如何決定展品的呈現方式，又如何書寫各類型的展覽文字？
​
「開箱！策展人的日常」工作坊分為六節，拆解策展工作的核心範疇，包括：策展構思編排與呈現、大型活動籌備與預算規劃、展覽文字撰寫、教育與公眾參與活動構想、展場設計、燈光與展品呈現的基礎。

關於 #當代印藝

「當代印藝」由註冊慈善團體「香港版畫工作室」營運，為本地最具規模的印藝及當代圖像藝術機構。我們透過策展、教育工作坊、國際交流及學術研究，致力保育香港印藝文化，並積極推廣當代版畫圖像藝術。2024年榮獲香港藝術發展局頒發「優秀藝團」殊榮。當代印藝設有兩處據點：位於石硤尾賽馬會創意藝術中心（JCCAC）的版畫創作空間與藏品庫，以及進駐中環元創方（PMQ）的展覽空間與活字館。

展覽的入口左側，豎立著一部看起來載滿歷史的機器，機身上的斑駁痕跡靜靜地訴說著上世紀的故事。你知道這部已有逾七十年歷史的切紙機，原來在旺角製造 嗎？

切紙機上的鐵牌刻有「香港明興機器廠」，並附以細字標明廠址。明興機器廠於1950年代在旺角西洋菜街營運，是香港印刷業蓬勃時期的見證者。他們參照外國的切紙機原型，以本地的材料及人才技能打造印刷機器，對當時的活字印刷業發展可謂功不可沒。本次展覽是它首次展出，把握展期最後一個月，一睹其歲月的風采！

Standing to the left of the exhibition entrance is a printer’s guillotine that seems to carry decades of history. Its mottled surface quietly tells the many stories it has witnessed. Did you know that this paper cutter, now over seventy years old, was originally made in Mong Kok?
​
On its metal plate are the words “Ming Hing Engineering Factory”, accompanied by the factory’s address in smaller characters. Operating on Sai Yeung Choi Street in Mong Kok during the 1950s, Ming Hing Engineering Factory stood as a witness to the flourishing era of Hong Kong’s printing industry. Modelled after foreign printer’s guillotines and built with local materials and craftsmanship, the machine made an important contribution to the movable type printing of its time. This exhibition marks its first public display.

Guided by letterpress artist Loraine Wong , discover the Chinese and English movable type from our collection! This hands-on workshop invites you to freely compose diverse fonts and imagery into striking bilingual layouts. From left-to-right flows ⥂⥃ to vertical and horizontal layouts ⇈⇊, the composition is entirely in your hands.

Your journey begins with the foundational principles of movable type. You will learn to select and arrange characters and alphabets, create your unique image using photopolymer plates, and bring your vision to life on an authentic Adana printing machine. We’re open! What was a family-run print shop like in 1970s Hong Kong? And how did a letterpress printer spend a typical day?

𝙒𝙚’𝙧𝙚 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙣! 𝘼 𝙇𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧’𝙨 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘿𝙖𝙮 invites you into the Open Press to explore a unique collection generously donated by retired master printers, offering a glimpse into the golden age of Hong Kong’s letterpress printing industry.

You will learn the fundamentals of letterpress printing, watch a vintage Heidelberg Windmill Press in action up close, and take part in a hands-on session using an Adana Printing Machine to create your own letterpress card.

Since 2014, when Mr. Lam On of Wing On Printing Press retired and entrusted us with his machines, movable type and archival materials, the preservation of letterpress printing has become a core mission. Through research, oral history interviews and public workshops, we aim at promoting this intangible cultural heritage.
