"FLOTATION is a work that harbours somewhere between the alternative reality of archaeology, nature, and myth. It all stems from my own personal fascination with the unique and universal characteristic of an island, understood as a psychological typology that breeds simultaneously a diverse and insular cultural interpretation of the world." "Raking the moon" by Joshua WF Thomson. Opening 3 pm Saturday 26 April. Exhibition 26 April - 11 May Saturday and Sunday 12.00 - 18.00

On 26th April, British born Hong Kong-based artist Joshua WF Thomson will open his first Hong Kong solo show, 'Raking the Moon', at Praya One on Cheung Chau. Using Cheung Chau as a departure point Thomson contemplates the nature of island communities: considering the manner in which collective narratives, visual orders, myths and histories are constructed. ‘Raking the Moon’ combines Thomson’s eye for the absurd and wide reaching research in a group of drawings, paintings, flags and maps which ruminate both on the local history of Cheung Chau and wider notions of the individual’s place in the community.
