Gejo’s lacquer works are distinguished by their vivid chromatic sensibility and refined use of decorative techniques, including shell inlay, gold leaf and metal powders. Fluent in a wide range of lacquer processes, she creates sculptural forms that are full-bodied yet graceful, combining volume, elegance and a subtle feminine sensibility. This balance of richness and restraint has become a defining feature of her artistic language.

下條華子的漆藝作品以鮮明而富層次的色彩見長， 並巧妙運用螺鈿、⾦箔及金屬粉等裝飾技法，營造出精緻、優雅而和諧的美感。她熟習多種漆藝工 序，作品造型飽滿而不失柔和，於豐盈的體量量之中蘊含細膩的女性氣質。這種在華麗與節制之間取得平衡的語言，已成為了她的作品特色和風格。

About Hanako GEJO
下條華⼦

Born in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, in 1980, Hanako GEJO received her M.F.A. from Kyoto City University of Arts in 2006. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions across Japan, Hong Kong, Korea and the Europe, including the Ishikawa International Urushi Exhibition 2023 and Fine Art Asia. In 2011, she received the Encouragement Award at the 50th Japan Craft Exhibition in Tokyo, and in 2016 she was awarded by the Saga Prefecture Arts and Cultural Association to recognise her artistic achievement. Gejo is currently a part-time lecturer at Kyushu Sangyo University.

下條華⼦1980年年出生於⽇本山梨縣，2006年獲得京都市立藝術⼤學美術碩士學位。2011年她於東京 「第50屆日本工藝展」獲得「獎勵賞」; 2016年獲 頒「佐賀縣藝術文化賞」。 她的作品曾於日本、香 港、韓國及歐洲等地的個展與群展中展出，包括 「典亞藝博」及「國際漆展。⽯川2023」。 2011年 於東京「第50屆日本⼯藝展」獲得「獎勵賞」; 2016年獲頒「佐賀縣藝術文化賞」。目前她任九州產業大學兼職講師。

Takeshi Igawa was shortlisted for the LOEWE Craft Prize in 2017. This exhibition marks the first two-person show outside Japan with his wife, fellow lacquer artist Hanako Gejo. Most of the works are being shown overseas for the first time. 井川健2017年入選LOEWE 工藝獎，今次 是他與同是漆藝家的夫人下條華子，首次在日本以外舉辦的雙人展，大部分作品都是 首次境外發表。
