Fukube Blacksmith, located in Noto Town, Ishikawa Prefecture, is a long-established blacksmith shop that has been operating since 1908 (Meiji 41), renowned for its traditional “nobuta” (wild blacksmithing) techniques. With a background in agriculture and fishing, the shop specializes in manufacturing, selling, and repairing various knives, agricultural tools, and fishing gear, including shovels, sickles, shovels, and tools specifically designed for opening conches and abalone.
In recent years, Fukube Blacksmith has incorporated IT technology to launch “Pochi Spa,” a knife-grinding delivery service. Customers can simply apply online and mail in their knives to receive professional repair services. This service includes edge repair, rust removal, and warping adjustment, offered in fixed-price packages, and has been well-received by customers nationwide.
In addition, “Fukube Kaji” also offers a variety of high-quality products, such as the “Noto Makiri,” a multi-functional knife originating from those used on fishermen’s boats; the “Ikawariki Wako,” suitable for handling squid and small fish; and the Santoku knife for home use, suitable for meat, fish, and vegetables. While preserving traditional techniques, the brand continuously innovates, becoming a highly regarded representative of craftsmanship.
