Digital Art Radar: Genesis Kai .enesiskai

Artwork: ‘The Red Prayer of Park Young Sook’s Moon Jar I’
The Red Prayer of Park Young Sook’s Moon Jar is a series by Genesis Kai. Each of the UV printed works on organic artisanal Hanji paper features a digital twin of Park Young Sook’s ceramic moon jar (달항아리 / dal-hang-ari). Of the same size/shape, each depicts bodies of water surrounding the moon jar, contextualizing the meaning of prayer, truth and longing.

Genesis Kai, created by new media artist Ming Shiu, is a pioneering virtual artist blending NLP artificial intelligence and human tactile senses. As a ‘Nova Sapien,’ she explores the intersection of technology and art.

Her journey began with the ‘Manifest’ series in 2021, depicting her birth in virtual reality and later as a physical installation. In 2023, Genesis showcased ‘The Red Prayer of Park Young Sook’s Moon Jar’ at the Asia NOW art fair, inspired by Korean Joseon ceramics and exploring cultural heritage through digital art.

Mad Dog Jones, born Michah Dowbak in 1985, is a Canadian digital artist. He is renowned for his distinctive fusion of cyberpunk aesthetics and natural elements, creating vibrant, neon-infused artworks.

In April 2021, his NFT piece 'REPLICATOR' was auctioned by Phillips, fetching $4.1 million and establishing him as the most expensive living Canadian artist at that time. His collaborations include projects with Deadmau5, Maroon 5, and Conor McGregor.

Through his dynamic compositions, Mad Dog Jones continues to captivate audiences worldwide, pushing the boundaries of digital art and storytelling.
