SC Gallery is pleased to present Singaporean artist duo Chow and Lin’s first solo exhibition in Hong Kong. This exhibition features a curated selection of artworks from their internationally acclaimed, long-running project, “The Poverty Line” (2010 - present). It includes images from earlier global case studies alongside new work created in Hong Kong last December.

By combining economic sociology with photographic typologies of food, Chow and Lin engage with global issues of poverty, inequality, and food systems through contemporary realism and research-based practice.

Their works are in the permanent collections of institutions such as MoMA and the China Central Academy of Fine Arts Museum, and their book “The Poverty Line” is in the collections of the MoMA Library, the Pompidou Bpi, V&A Museum and National Gallery Singapore.
They have also presented on policy and interdisciplinary platforms, including TED, the United Nations and the World Economic Forum.

The exhibition opens on March 14.
Stay tuned for more details!

We’ll be closed for the holidays from December 24 to 29. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas! 🎄

In this December, SC Gallery presents “Becoming of Places”, a group exhibition featuring the works of Tsang Chui Mei, Hui Chung Ling, Genie and Ng Yin Lam, Ann. The three artists share a material-centred art practice and engage with the physicality of their medium: whether through accumulation and erosion of pigment, or by firing clay to become ceramics, they transform the fluctuation of time and inner sentiment into tangible physical marks and embodied space, constructing a visual landscape where fantasy and reality coexist. “Becoming of Places” will open on 20th December and run till next year on 17th January.

SC Gallery is excited to present “Fluid Aesthetics,” a captivating duo exhibition featuring two Hong Kong visionary artists of Jeremy Fung and Wong Shun Yu at the upcoming Abu Dhabi Art Fair . This showcase illuminates their unique artistic journeys, weaving together distinct styles and innovative material explorations.

Jeremy Fung, both painter and sculptor, draws profound meaning from his primary medium: wood. His artistic practice transcends mere craftsmanship, delving into the symbolic depths of this organic material. Through techniquesof scorching, staining, and distressing, Jeremy reveals the raw beauty of wood, crafting surfaces that are uneven and jagged, exposing the hidden intricacieswithin. Each piece exudes a weathered elegance, inviting viewers to reflect onthemes of history, decay, and memory—a meditation on existentialism itself. Jeremy Fung

In collaboration with Lee Woo Sing College , SCG held the forum “Does Art Need Commercial Value?” at CUHK last night .The discussion, led by artists Chow Chun Fai Doris Wong and curators Chris Wan and Zoie Yung explored how considerations of commercial value extend beyond the creation of art to significant institutions focused on conservation, exceptional exhibitions, and public education. This highlighted the intricate relationship between art and commercialism.

The forum attracted over 150 participants and received positive feedback. We extend our gratitude to Lee Woo Sing College, our moderator Professor Issac Leung and all attendees. SC Gallery looks forward to hosting more academic discussions in the future.
